From the Spellmaker Archives

This is one of those gloriously old Spellmaker pages that deserved to stay itself while becoming easier to read. The original recipe is preserved here, but the presentation has been reimagined as a little grimoire-meets-recipe-book page from the family archives.

Traditionally, this potion is made by the light of nine pink votive candles on the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month. In other words, 9:00 a.m. on September 9. That old rhythm of nines is part of the charm.

As with all free spellwork shared by Spellmaker, this is offered as a traditional magical recipe. Use it thoughtfully and responsibly, and always remember that practical life choices matter too.

Method & Magick

How to Make Love Potion #9

1

Begin at the Ninth Hour

By the light of 9 pink votive candles, place the nine ingredients into a cauldron or other metal pot on the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month of the year. The “ninth” hour is 9:00 a.m., not 9:00 p.m.

2

Stir Nine Times

Stir the potion nine times with a wooden spoon. With each stir, recite the incantation below.

Magickal Incantation
LET THE ONE WHO DRINKS THIS WINE
SHOWER ME WITH LOVE DIVINE.
SWEET LOVE POTION NUMBER NINE
MAKE HIS/HER LOVE FOREVER MINE.
3

Simmer the Potion

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for nine minutes. Remove the cauldron from the heat and allow the potion to cool.

4

Bless with Nine Breaths

Blow nine times upon the potion. Bless it by saying aloud the names of the nine love goddesses listed below, then strain it through cheesecloth into a clean container.

5

Cover and Refrigerate

Cover the potion and refrigerate it until you are ready to serve it to the man or woman from whom you desire love and affection. Do not allow anyone other than your beloved to look at, touch, or drink the potion.

6

Use with Care

The finished potion may be mixed with another wine or put into food or drink.

A Word of Warning

This potion has long been described in the Spellmaker tradition as extremely potent and best used with caution. The old warning on the original page said its effects could be intense, long-lasting, and difficult to control or reverse. In other words: be sure before you use it that your intended beloved is truly the right one for you, and that you are acting responsibly.

Spellmaker also reminds visitors: spells found on this website are shared as traditional magical material. Cast responsibly, and understand that practical decisions and personal accountability still matter.

The Nine Goddesses

When blessing the potion, say the names of these nine goddesses aloud:

Inanna Ishtar Astarte Hathor Nephthys Aphrodite Venus Freya Arianrhod

One of the loveliest things about old pages like this is that they are part recipe, part ritual, part memory. This one even comes with a photograph from the kitchen.
