do you love the IDEA of him? Now that could just as easily be a "her" instead of a "him" but since the majority of our clients here at Spellmaker are women who are doing love magick on men, I am going to stick with "him" for the purpose of this post. π
Every so often I work with a client who I feel really isn’t in love with the person that they are working on! This is a hard subject to broach with a person simply because it brings up defensive talk from the client and we get no where! The minute I start to question whether or not there is "true love" coming from the person doing the spell work, all their defenses go up! However, when I am doing spell work on their behalf, I always see the truth and the truth is: Sometimes you are in love with the idea of the man you want him to be, not the man himself.
Some of you are working on the man you think you can make him become; if he would just change a few things then he would be the ideal man for you! Some of you are working on the man who you know is just plain old unobtainable. Some of you are working on the man who has ripped your heart out, stomped on it, and fed it to you and yet you still think there is "something there."
Now admittedly, this group of clients makes up a very small percentage of clients! Most of you are working on a valid case. But if this post rings a bell with you and you wonder, "Is she talking about me?" then I would suggest that you take a closer look at who you are choosing to spend your precious time and money on.
If you are working on a man (or woman) that you feel you are going to change completely with spell work and THEN they will be great for you, you definitely need to reassess what you are doing. Yes, spell work can effect great change in a person, but remember the changes that you are trying to make should be changes for the better for HIM not just for you. For instance, if your intended is suffering from past emotional damage and you are trying to change the effects from that, then you are on the right track because it is good for him and then secondly good for you. If you are doing spell work to try to make him a neatnik, wear his hair a certain way, and do a job he would probably hate because you want him to make more money, then you are on the wrong track.
You need to be in love with the man he is and when you are trying to effect change, it has to be for his greater good first, and your benefit should be second.

Hi There!
I just finished reading a book written by Mother Teresa. It made me interested in learning more about her life and her works.
If you aren’t very familiar with Mother Teresa and her life, CNN has a nice summary here of the highlights of her life.
Mother Teresa is on the fast track to becoming canonized. On Oct. 19, 2003, Pope John Paul II
beatified Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who died in 1997. The beatification of the
Macedonia-born nun took place in Rome, and her popularity has remained strong in the months since. The process
leading up to the beatification has been the shortest in modern history. In early 1999βless than two years after Mother Teresa’s
deathβPope John Paul waived the normal five-year waiting period and allowed the immediate opening of her canonization cause. In 2002, the Pope recognized the healing of an Indian woman as the miracle needed to beatify Mother Teresa of Calcutta. That healing occurred on the first anniversary of Mother Teresa’s death. It involved a non-Christian woman in India who had a huge abdominal tumor and woke up to find the tumor gone. Members of the Missionaries of Charity prayed for their founder’s intervention to help the sick woman. After her beatification, the recognition of another miracle will be required for sainthood.
Some quotes from Mother Teresa:
"Remember works of Love are works of Peace"
"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."
"Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing."
"Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.
"
"Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each
other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world."
Mother Teresa is a patron of the poor, of course, and of children. Children held a very special place in her heart.
It will be interesting to follow her story, and see when / if a second miracle occurs that would make Teresa a Saint. To see someone we have seen in this lifetime be canonized would be something very special, I think π

Greetings! Well, I don’t know about where you live, but here in New Mexico we are experiencing a little bit of Fall weather. It is much cooler in the evenings and in the mornings there is just something inexplicable that reminds me of the beginnings of Fall mornings.
Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons, especially here in New Mexico, and although I have always loved Fall now I have another wonderful reason to love it: It means our Albuquerque Voodoo Convention is getting near! π
I am so very excited about the convention this year because it means the return of many old friends from last year and also the meeting of new friends, some coming from far across the world to be with us! The Convention gives me a chance to teach everyone personally and gives our Voodoo family a chance to participate in giving blessings and consecrations to each person. This is very rewarding for us as so much of our work is online and by email. Certainly it is wonderful to meet everyone by email and get to know them, but it is just such an extra treat for us all to be together with you.
Of course, as most of you already know, we are very thrilled to be able to hold the Fet Ghede ritual with you this year! I have also just finished putting together a magickal herbal workshop that I feel is going to benefit FOR LIFE all of those who are here to take part. It is going to give participants a chance to learn and understand how herbal magick works, learn secret herbal combinations and how to use them, and learn how to properly prepare magickal herbs for the best possible result in using them. I am truly excited to be able to teach this class.
There will be much, much more to the Convention, obviously, and I will be blogging more about it in upcoming days.
Greetings everyone! I wanted to talk to you all just a moment about depression. For many of you who are either doing our love spells or are in the waiting period after having done love spells, depression can often set in. Sometimes you might be depressed because you have even had to do love spells in the first place! Sometimes you might be depressed because now that you have done them you aren’t sure when or even IF they will work for you. Sometimes you might be depressed because the person you have been working your magick on isn’t responding just yet.
No matter what the reason, though, for sure depression can have a detrimental effect on your love spells! Now I know for sure that we are all going to be sad sometimes, especially when we are not with the one person we want to be with. However, too much of that sadness really sends out a negative energy. I have people writing and telling me that they are "crying day and night" because they are not with the person they have done the love spells on. While I do feel great compassion for this, I also know that crying day and night is in no way helping to bring the person closer to you. In fact, it may be doing quite the opposite.
I would like to encourage each and every one of you to please try to do something to uplift your spirits. And, yes, I know it isn’t easy. I am not trying to sound cavalier or like everyone should have a Pollyanna mood. However, I want you to get what you want from your love spell casting! So I tell you this for your own good: Too much crying and depression is not good for your case! I know I have talked about it before, but I think it bears repeating. If you feel depressed and sad over your case, try to compartmentalize those feelings. Promise yourself an hour a day to be sad, depressed, and even crying if you need to. Then promise yourself that will be it for that day – you will always have that hour tomorrow to do it all over again. Once that hour of sadness and crying has gone by, you must promise yourself that you will then do something productive and positive even if it is take a bath and fix your hair a different way!
Obviously this isn’t always going to work. Each of us has days that we just can’t seem to shake the blues away from. But I do urge you to try and see how much better you start to feel after a few days.
Love to you all! Mambo Sam
I believe in the weight of words. I believe that form follows words which follow thought and intent. Words carry a power and energy that can change the world. If the flapping of a butterflies wings somewhere across the world can effect the weather in Texas, then imagine the effect the breath that carries our daily words has on our lives and the lives of others?
βWatch
your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.β~~~~ Unknown
Think of your words as a pebble in a pond, their effects rippling out to those around you. Written words can be erased. Spoken words can not.Think of your words as an arrow, that cant be stopped or retrieved. What you say matters, and matters greatly to the Universe.

Hey Y’all!
I tried this recipe yesterday to make a special treat for Papa and they came out simply delightful! Give them a ripple. I’m pretty sure they got two thumbs up from Papa as well!
β’ 1/2 cup butter or margarine
β’ 1/2 cup brown sugar
β’ 1/2 cup granulated sugar
β’ 1 egg
β’ 1 1/4 cups unsifted flour
β’ 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
β’ 1/4 teaspoon salt
β’ 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
β’ 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cream butter until fluffy. Add sugars gradually, beating well after each addition. Add egg and mix. Combine flour, soda and salt; then add to butter mixture, 1/4 at a time. Add vanilla and coconut. Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes or until cookies begin to brown. Cool and store.
For those of you without an oven, here is a no-bake recipe π
In a large saucepan, combine butter, milk and sugar; bring to a rolling
boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Continue boiling for 1
minute. Remove from heat; stir in oats, cocoa, and coconut. Drop by
tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Makes about 36 yummy no-bake cookies.
