  • Writing affirmations for Prosperity and Abundance

    Hi There!

    I love using affirmations. I like to think of them sometimes as "mini-petitions" in my mind, as they help me focus on a goal I have, and help me send energy towards it as well. Affirmations are something that can be used any time, and dont need any special equipment. Just some mindful concentration and energy 😉

    If you're stumped about creating a prosperity affirmation, don't worry – you're not alone!

    Each person's
    definition of prosperity is different, so when setting out to write your affirmation, work thru these three important steps.

    1) First think about what conditions in your life would allow you to feel
    prosperous? Is there a specific amount of money that you need, or is it
    more about having a nice home, a decent car to drive, and plenty of
    food on the table? When you work on a prosperity affirmation, it's
    important to affirm the feeling of being prosperous and to imagine the
    situations in your life which would allow you to experience this
    feeling.

    2) Then, after you have identified what situations
    would allow you to feel prosperous, think about  what words carry this
    same feeling for you? What words have a feeling of prosperity? Some
    sample words might be: joy, peace, flow, happiness, plenty, abundance,
    relaxation, emotional well-being, luxury, or limitless supply. At this
    stage it's important to find words that have a real spark to them, that
    light your inner fire. It's only words that light your inner fire which
    will carry a true energy of prosperity as you create your prosperity
    affirmation.

    3) After words have been identified that have the
    right feeling to them, write some sample
    sentences using these powerful words. Sometimes you need to play around
    with grammar and try different nouns, verbs, and adjectives. If you use
    something that seems unnatural and the words feel stiff or weird to
    you, they won't work. The words need to feel good to you. Some sample
    sentence variations might be: "I am experiencing abundance at all
    times, in all ways." "I have plenty of money." "My home is safe and my
    family is healthy and well." "I am so happy that financial abundance
    has manifested." "I attract abundance at all times." "I am a money
    magnet." Each of these phrases works nicely as a prosperity
    affirmation, but feel free to use these as a take-off point to create
    prosperity affirmations of your own.

    After you've found a nice
    prosperity affirmation that really "clicks," it's time to get to work!
    Start using the affirmation each day. Repeat it silently to yourself
    while you're in the shower, say it aloud as you drive to work, or write
    it down in a journal or notebook. Put the prosperity affirmation at the
    forefront of your mind and bring your attention to it throughout the
    day.

    After you use your prosperity affirmation regularly for a
    few weeks, it might be time to release it. Try not
    to "overwork" your affirmations. If an affirmation starts to feel
    heavy and you have a resistance to using it, it's probably time to let
    it go and release it to the Universe. Set it aside for a while. Let the
    mysterious power of the subconscious mind go to work and give your
    waking mind a break.

    Before long, you'll be noticing people,
    places, and situations that are leading you into a more abundant and
    prosperous manner of living. Pay attention to these opportunities. They
    are all signs of the power of your intention, and they are working to
    bring about your prosperity affirmation and help it manifest on the
    physical plane.

    After you start experiencing more prosperity, you'll know for yourself how to create affirmations that work for YOU!

  • Money and Luck Magick

    Greetings everyone!  It is no secret that these are trying financial times!  To that end, we have recently reduced the price of many of our luck and money magick products to try to help ease some of the crunch that so many of us are feeling.

    Also, there is a rather humble but delicious New Orleans stew that can be prepared ritualistically to hopefully bring financial help into one's home.

    New Orleans Voodoo Lucky Penny Stew

    1 quart boiling water
    1 cup beef stew meat
    4 cups cut up cabbage
    1 large white onion, chopped
    2 large tomatoes, chopped
    1 cup fresh spinach, washed and torn into small pieces
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/4 cup garlic powder
    1/4 cup onion powder
    1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 cup dark red wine
    1 green candle*
    3 shiny pennies*

    *Before beginning your cooking, set up a green candle in the kitchen and surround it with 3 shiny pennies. Light the candle and say, "Hey, Legba, open the gate, let my words carry to the other side. Thank you." Pause a moment. Then say, "Capitaine Agouer (pronounced "ah-ghwAY"), I humbly ask that you help me in providing for my family, myself, and others that may be in need." Then begin your food preparation with your petition in mind. Keep your petition in mind and honor Capitain Agouer during the preparation of the food.

    Add all ingredients except the meat, cabbage, spinach, and raisins to the pot of boiling water and reduce to a simmer. Add in the meat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add in the rest of the ingredients and cook for 40 minutes at a low simmer. Turn off flame and add 1/2 cup red wine to pot and stir. Remove the bay leaf before serving. Serve with black eyed peas to insure prosperity.

    BEFORE YOU EAT: Before you eat the stew, take 1/2 cup out and put it in a pretty paper cup or bowl. Place it in front of the burning candle as an offering to Capitaine Agouer. After the meal, take the food offering and the three pennies outside and leave it under a tree. Stamp the ground three times with your foot and say, "Blessings and thanks to you Capitaine Agouer."

    Happy cooking and blessings to all of those in need of help.

  • Albuquerque Voodoo Convention was AWESOME!

    Hello everyone! The Convention was truly a great event!  It was really great to see some familiar faces and just as great to meet with the new ones.

    The weekend was filled with fun and learning.  Saturday nights Fet Ghede celebration went so very well with everyone sharing a meal together and then participating in all the activities of the night.  Fet Ghede is the time that we honor our ancestors as well as celebrate the Vodou New Year.  Everyone was given the opportunity to throw the traumas and negativities of the old year into the fire for a fresh new start!

    Additionally, we fed our ancestors at a beautiful ancestor altar, lit candles for them, and then made ouanga bottles to use throughout the year to connect with our beloved ancestors.  We wrote them notes that went into a special vessel and also wrote their names on candles that are actually still being burned here in the office.  It was extremely powerful to connect with everyone's family is this beautiful way.

    Each person who attended the convention met with me for a one-on-one consultation and brief ritual to help them attain their goals.  It is a very special time when I get to spend this private time with each client.

    I am still in the category of "tired but happy" and already miss everyone who was here and can't wait for next year! I will share much more with you all soon.  Here is a picture of our wonderful ancestor altar that we built.  (Everyone was invited to have a picture of their ancestors on the altar.)

  • November Full Moon

    3889

    November's full moon, sometimes called the Frost Moon or the Snow Moon occurs at 1:17 a.m. EST on November 13. It will appear more than 99 percent full on both the 12th and 13th as it rises. On November 13 the moon will be near fall's favorite star cluster, the Pleiades.

    Two meteor showers occur in November the week before and after full moon. On Tuesday, November 4, the Southern Taurid meteor shower peaks. This shower, along with the Leonid meteor shower on November 16 and 17, are weaker showers.

    Because the full moon occurs when the moon is most directly opposite the sun for the month, the full moon’s path across the sky mimics that of the sun six months from now. In both the northern and southern hemispheres, the November full moon rises in the east-northeast and sets in the west-northwest – just as the sun does in May. In the northern hemisphere, tonight’s full moon will soar up high – like the springtime sun. But south of the equator, the moon will follow the low path of the late autumn sun.

    The full moon shines from dusk till dawn tonight, unless you live north of the Arctic Circle. That far north, the moon mimics the midnight sun, staying out for 24 hours around the clock.

    Keep your  eyes to the skies! Its going to be interesting!

  • How to Start Recovering from a Broken Heart

    Ok, so I know what you are all thinking already! You came to Spellmaker to help get your HD back and dont want to know about recovering – just reuniting! I get that 😉 The reason I picked out this article is because it has alot of good advice on how to take care of yourself and do things to help you feel BETTER while going thru this process. It first caught my eye because it quotes one of my all time heros, Robert Sapolsky. If you havent read "Why Zebra's Dont Get Ulcers" yet, why not????? Its an incredible book that examines stress and its effects on the body in language any of us can understand. Its written with intelligence and humor and Bob, if you are reading, my dear, I Love You! Anyway, everyone should pick up a used copy of Zebra's on Amazon.com. You will not be sorry that you did. I hope the following article is helpful to you.

    How to Start Recovering from a Broken Heart

    If your heart is breaking because of lost love, if you've been betrayed, abandoned, "dumped", or you know you must leave a relationship because of abuse, you certainly are not alone. Relationships coming to an end is common. Even if we look only at divorce rates, "50% percent of first marriages, 67% of second, and 74% of third marriages end in divorce". Countless other romantic relationships end every moment of every day and in most cases, someone feels despair and heart break.

    So, what to do? The answer is: (1) take care of your physical and emotional self, (2) take additional care of your emotional self by repeating over and over again, "I will get through this and feel better", and (3) start working on acceptance of the loss. This article will present the details of these three steps so you can start your recovery from heart break today.

    Move your body.

    In case it is not obvious why this is a recommendation, let me note that no less than the US Surgeon General reported an association between physical exercise and a sense of psychological well-being. Regular exercise increases physical and emotional tolerance of stressful events. Moving your body will help fight off feelings associated with anxiety and depression.

    Eat well.

    After a relationship ends you might feel like overeating, like not eating at all, or like binging on "high sugar" foods (for example, ice cream and chocolate). The goal of the advice "eat well" is to eat healthy foods in moderate quantities despite not wanting to eat or wanting to do nothing but eat. Healthy eating is consistent with the advice of Micheal Pollan (author of In Defense of Food and The Omnivore 's Dilemma): "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

    Avoid self-medicating with alcohol or drugs.

    This is stating the obvious. I hope you are not learning here that alcohol and drugs do not solve any problems and often compound any problems you do have. As tempting as numbing your self to pain through alcohol and drugs may be, avoid giving into temptation. Doing otherwise will, 99 times out of 100, just slow down your recovery.

    Rest through sleeping enough.

    Getting adequate sleep is critical to maintain your resilience in the face of stress. In the book, Making a Good Brain Great, the author Daniel G. Amen notes that "getting less than six and a half hours of sleep at night decreases our ability to fight stress".

    Seek the support of a network of friends.

    In the book, Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers: A Guide to Stress, Stress-Related Diseases, and Coping, author Robert M. Sapolsky carefully distinguishes between relationships with supportive friends and relationships with everyone else. Regular contact with supportive friends and family members can reduce the harm caused by stress. Contact with friends or others who are not supportive does not reduce the harm caused by stress and may make things worse.

    Repeat over and over again to your self: "I will get through this and feel better".

    If you have never been through a breakup before, tell your self this based on faith and your observation that others, perhaps even close friends of yours, survive breakups and soon start feeling much better. If you have been through a breakup before, remember the experience from the first moments of loss through your transition to feeling better and presumably to being "in love" again. You should find comfort in knowing that you will get through your heart break and despair to feeling better. In many ways, getting through a breakup is a kind of surviving – you can do it, you will get through it to better times.

    Start working on acceptance of your loss.

    This is the third priority in the self care portion of your recovery for a reason: it is less important than taking care of your physical and emotional self. At the same time, acceptance is the path to full recovery. From the first days "float" the thought, "I can accept this outcome and move on".

    Self care or self help is a way to start and accelerate your recovery from the heart break of a broken relationship. Taking care of your physical and emotional self along with starting to accept your loss are the first steps on the path to feeling better.

    Be active in helping your self. Be well.

  • Hunter’s Moon ~~~ October 14th 2008

    17240

    The Hunter’s Moon (also known as Blood Moon,
    Sanguine Moon, Full Travel Moon, or Full Dying Grass) is the first full moon
    after the Harvest moon, which is the full moon nearest the Autumnal equinox.

    The Hunter’s Moon is the name for the full
    moon that immediately follows the Harvest Moon. In the northern hemisphere, the
    Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the September equinox.

    The Harvest Moon ushers in the year’s
    grandest procession of moon-filled nights. Farmers once relied on these several
    nights of dusk-till-dawn moonlight to gather their crops. Tonight’s Hunter’s
    Moon is similar to the Harvest Moon, except the effect is less pronounced.
    Every full moon rises around sunset and shines all night long. On average, the
    moon rises 50 minutes later daily. But the few days after the September and
    October full moons, the moon rises farther north along the horizon for several
    days in succession. In the northern hemisphere, this means earlier-than-usual
    moonrises and longer moonlit nights.

    Just remember, whether you live in the
    northern or the southern hemisphere, the full moon tonight will shine from dusk
    till dawn.

    These names date back to the Native
    Americans in the eastern and northern parts of North America, who had various
    names for the Full Moon during each month of the year. European settlers
    quickly adopted the Moon names used by the Native American groups, though most
    people today are only aware of a few of those names. October’s Full Moon is
    called the "Hunter’s Moon" or sometimes the "Blood Moon" or
    "Sanguine Moon". It is the first Full Moon after the Harvest Moon
    (the Full Moon nearest the Autumnal equinox) and it gets its name from hunters
    who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the
    winter ahead.

    Feasts associated with the Hunter’s Moon
    have been going on since the seventh century.

    October: Full "Hunters" or
    "Blood" Moon (defined as the first full moon following the harvest
    moon; from hunting practice of riding over the stubble of reaped grain fields
    pursuing foxes by the light of the moon.); also Full Travel Moon, Full Dying
    Grass Moon.

    The Hunter’s Moon

    ~~~~~by
    Mathilde Blind
    The Hunter’s Moon rides high,
        High o’er the close-cropped plain;
    Across the desert sky
        The herded clouds amain
    Scamper tumultuously,
            Chased by the hounding wind
            That yelps behind.
    The clamorous hunt is done,
        Warm-housed the kennelled pack;
    One huntsman rides alone
        With dangling bridle slack;
    He wakes a hollow tone,
            Far echoing to his horn
            In clefts forlorn.
    The Hunter’s Moon rides low,
        Her course is nearly sped.
    Where is the panting roe?
        Where hath the wild deer fled?
    Hunter and hunted now
            Lie in oblivion deep:
            Dead or asleep.
