  • New Bath Set Up!

Bath Tub Stars New Bath Design and Set up!

….actually, the real news is about the clean up!

Not that there was anything wrong with the clean up before — it was just a little, um, involved, as our most Beloved Mambo Sam packs these baths chock full of magickal and blessed herbs so that we can get the most benefit possible from the Ritual Baths. The experience is amazing for all the baths (trust me, I have taken at least one of each!) Now, the herbs are packed neat and tidy in a cotton bag. That keeps the herbs from running down your drain and getting in your ears and hair (for those of us with long hair, you know what I mean ) Now, the herbs diffuses their healing and other such magickal properties thru the cotton bag (picture a BIG cotton tea bag right full of aromatic blessed herbs) into the water and you get the benefits of all of these herbs AND a speedy cleanup ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did take my first bath with the new set up last night, so I can tell you from experience, it was as wonderful as ever (and I got to bed much quicker when I was done)

For those of you convention bound, you might want to consider doing a Baron’s Purple Bath before your trip, to help you get read for the Big Fet Ghede Festivities that will be occuring! Doing the bath preconference to help celebrate Fet Ghede and The Baron and Maman Brigitte would be a wonderful thing to do and help you get the most out of this fantastic experience. Also, anyone who would just like to do some general cleansing before the convention to help open themselves up more to the blessings and learning that will be bestowed by our awesome Mambo could do a Milk of Damballah White Bath kit before hand ๐Ÿ˜‰ Being cleansed and open to all the new and wonderful things that will be presented to you can only help enhance the experice for you.

I hope you try out a bath with the new herb set up! You will not be disappointed!

Much light and love (and see ALOT of you soon!)

  • Hit a Bump in the Road?

Hit a Bump in the Road?

    288738e_2

Have you hit a bump in your spellcasting road? This happens sometimes! Do not fret! This happens from time to time and there are things you can do to get "over" it !  Handyman

The FIRST thing I think anyone should do when they face a bump or unexpected twist or turn is to assess themselves ๐Ÿ˜‰ We all know that spellwork can be at times emotional for some people, then add to that some unexpected news or event, and well, sometimes we enter the "glass is half empty" frame of mind. Sooooooo — anything you can do to get yourself back in balance before embarking on anything else would be so beneficial to you and your case. As always, consult with your caseworker for what would be most appropriate for your case, but several of the ritual baths — Milk of Damballah, LaSiren Aquamarine Shoals, The Baron’s Bath — might be quite applicable and help you get recharged! Then there is of course some White Candle Magick or if you already have a Cosmic Voodoo Healing Egg, a few sessions on yourself could do the trick.

Now, once you have yourself in a happier, more balanced place. Always consult your caseworker and keep them updates in the events of your case. The more informed they are, the better they can advise you.  Very often a reading with Mambo Sam is just the ticket to helping you plan your strategy and further raise your spirits.

Dont let unexpected news or events turn you and your case on their respective ears ๐Ÿ˜‰ Take a deep breath, do something good and kind for yourself, and consult your Spellmaker support system. We are here to help.

  • Harvest Moon ~~~ 9-15-08

One of the more well known or commonly known full moons is the Harvest Moon. It has been the subject of much folk lore, poems, and there is even a famous song! The full harvest moon is the full Moon that occurs closest to the
autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in
September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of
harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this
Moon.  Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice, the chief Indian
staples, are now ready for gathering.

    300pxharvest_moon_2

Often, the Harvest Moon seems to be bigger or brighter or more colorful
than other moons. These effects have to do with the seasonal tilt of
the earth. The warm color of the moon shortly after it rises is an
optical illusion, based on the fact that when the moon is low in the
sky, you are looking at it through a greater amount of atmospheric
particles than when the moon is overhead. The atmosphere scatters the
bluish component of moonlight (which is really reflected white light
from the sun), but allows the reddish component of the light to travel
a straighter path to your eyes. Hence all moons (and stars and planets)
look reddish when they are low in the sky.

According to NASA: The Harvest Moon is no ordinary full moon; it behaves in a special way.
Throughout the year the Moon rises, on average, about 50 minutes later each day. But near the autumnal equinox, which comes this year on Sept. 22nd, the day-to-day difference in the local time of moonrise is only 30 minutes. The Moon will rise around sunset tonight–and not long after sunset for the next few evenings. That comes in handy for northern farmers who are working long days to harvest their crops before autumn. The extra dose of lighting afforded by the full Moon closest to the equinox is what gives the Harvest Moon its name.

There are many interesting stories and mythologies around this moon.

The Harvest Moon is also known as the Wine Moon, as this is a time after the grapes have been harvested and wine is made.

The Chinese Traditional name for this moon is the Chrysanthemum Moon.

Please check out Mambo Sam’s Blog about the Chinese Harvest Moon Festival  ! It was great fun with Moon Cakes last year!

The Cherokee call this Nut Moon (because of harvesting some species of nuts from trees….not for the other reason you might be thinking ๐Ÿ˜‰  )

The Choctaw call this the Mulberry Moon.

The Celts call this the Singing Moon as after the seasonal harvests are complete comes a time for acceptance,
    mellowing, and rest after labor.
It has been so named in reference to the festive attitude known to
every laborer who has toiled to complete work necessary to the survival
of the community and now celebrates the completion of those labors.

    Under the Harvest Moon
    by Carl Sandburg

    Under the harvest moon,

    When the soft silver

    Drips shimmering
    Over the garden nights,
    Death, the gray mocker,
    Comes and whispers to you
    As a beautiful friend
    Who remembers.

         Under the summer roses
    When the flagrant crimson
    Lurks in the dusk
    Of the wild red leaves,
    Love, with little hands,
    Comes and touches you
    With a thousand memories,
    And asks you
    Beautiful, unanswerable questions.

    The Harvest Moon by Longfellow

It is the Harvest Moon!  On gilded vanes
And roofs of villages, on woodland crests
And their aerial neighborhoods of nests
      Deserted, on the curtained window-panes
Of rooms where children sleep, on country lanes
And harvest-fields, its mystic splendor rests!
Gone are the birds that were our summer guests,
With the last sheaves return the laboring wains!
All things are symbols: the external shows
Of Nature have their image in the mind,
      As flowers and fruits and falling of the leaves;
The song-birds leave us at the summer’s close,
Only the empty nests are left behind,
And pipings of the quail among the sheaves.

However you choose to celebrate this moon, even if its just with a cup of tea and a few quiet moments in the grass appreciating it’s beauty, Happy Autumn Everyone!

    Much Light and Love,

    Sister Bridget

  • Intuition — Your Inner Guide

What I loved about this article was the last paragraph! (#4)! I mean, sometimes we can get one little piece of information that just doesnt fit anywhere else …. and its possible to worry it to death or make a mountain out of a mole hill ๐Ÿ˜‰ Sometimes, its just a red herring.

    Intuition – Your Inner Guide

    by: Anne Walsh

Have you ever thought about someone out of the blue?and then they
called you. Have you ever made a decision that everyone else thought
was crazy, but you knew was right for you..and it worked out
perfectly? Have you ever followed your gut instinct on something and
was proved gloriously RIGHT! If any of these have happened to you, you
have experienced the power of intuition. Most of us at some stage wish
we could have an inner guide that would tell us the right thing to do.
The good news is that we do have an inner guide, the bad news is that
    the message can be fuzzy!

Benefits of being guided by intuition

So what are the benefits of following your intuition as opposed to
listening to the promptings of parents, partners and others? First of
all, this begins to give you confidence in your own judgment. It helps
you judge whether this person or opportunity is the right one for
you?even if it may not seem so on paper. Secondly I have never met
anyone who regretted following their intuition. Yes it may have meant
making a difficult decision but it WAS the right ultimate decision for
them. Many great business deals have been gone through on a hunch?or
    intuition?

    Developing your intuition

    1. Recognition: I have relied on intuition for making most of my major
decisions but I still have difficulty sometimes distinguishing between
it and just a passing thought, so here are some guidelines I use?

    a. Feeling: What’s the feeling around it? If it’s gentle that’s
usually a sign of intuition. Something that is fear-based and urgent
    is not intuition.

    b. Persistent: You find that you keep having the same thought about
    something, check it out.

    c. Messages: You find that the issue crops up again in all sorts of
ways..it gets mentioned on the news, you hear it in passing
    conversation.

    2. Trust. So after you have got these messages and confirmation, if
you wish to use this, you actually need to do something about it. You
must learn to trust this feeling. Follow promptings and see where they
    lead you?

    3. Openness: Be open to where intuition can lead you. One thing I can
promise you..is that you will be surprised and delighted by where it
    leads you..

    4. Sometimes it doesn’t mean anything. This is one thing I have
noticed about being guided by intuition. Sometimes hunches and gut
instincts don’t actually seem to mean anything?but we don’t know that
until afterwards?so accept that you may have the odd intuitive red
    herring!

So this week begin paying attention to your hunches. Call that friend,
read that book, make that call?and who knows what delightful things
    could come to your door..

  • White Candle Magick

    White Candle Magick

    ~

White candles have many uses – use them to heal (physical or emotional illness), for dispelling negativity, to gain spirituality, for protection, or to enhance any Magical Powers.

    ~

Basically, white is for healing – healing any hurt you or your target might have which makes them afraid to be in another relationship, healing any fear they have of being in a relationship, healing and removing the negativity inside them. A very thorough approach to healing with white candle magick is to use the โ€œMind Body Spiritโ€ approach, in which each level is addressed with a candle of its own. This approach can take a little time to complete, but it is very very effective.

    ~

You can also use white candles for enhancing your own magical powers, for any spiritual work or for general protection. For protection for yourself or another, you might want to consider pairing the candle magick session with the Cosmic Voodoo Protection Gris Gris Bag or Protection Charms for an added boost!

    ~

A really underused but handy candle to keep on your shelf is a white seven knob candle. A Seven Knob candle is just that – a candle with carved โ€œknobsโ€ that is often used in Wish Magic. Each knob can be used for a separate or different wish! (or, if you want, you can use each knob for the same wish) BUT โ€“ using each knob for a different wish is what makes this candle so handy. As all you veteran spellcasters know, usually the petition for a candle is kept the same for the whole use of the candleโ€ฆ i.e one candle = one request/petition. With the seven knob candle, you get 7 different wishes if you want! So, no need to commit a full white female image candle to Aunt Sally who is having a bunion removed and you want to send her a just little healing energy; You can just use one knob on the white seven knob candle. Has you boss been a crab and you want to help lighten his mood a little โ€“ use one knob on the white seven knob candle. You get the picture. Itโ€™s a nifty candle to keep on hand!

    ~

White Image candles can be used in pairs as well. They are especially great at healing and releasing negativity in a relationship. If you are having tension or strain in a relationship with a friend or co-worker that you would like to help clear up magickally, take one image candle that would represent you and one white image candle of the appropriate sex that would represent your friend/co-worker. Use the candles as per the instructions, except have them facing each other. While doing the candle session, ask for healing and release of (fill in the blank for your situation) and replace the ickiness with (again, fill in the blank appropriately). I have even done this with THREE candles, when I was having difficulty with a pair of friends and it worked very very well for me.

    ~

Donโ€™t forget, you can always add a few drops of Abre Camino Oil into the Annointing Oil that comes with the White Candle Magick kits when doing healing work!
