  • Moment of Remembrance

    Hello dear readers,

In 1996, a humanitarian organization based in Washington, D.C., known as 'No Greater Love' conducted a survey on children and asked them why do they think there is a holiday on Memorial Day….what did they think it was all about?

Mostly their answers revolved around barbecues and extended weekend parties and celebration.  They hadn't the vaguest idea about the sacrifices of the military personnel in whose honor it is celebrated. One of the children was even quoted as saying that this was the day when swimming pools open!

Thus, the organization came up with the idea of 'National Moment of Remembrance' to remind and especially, let the future generations know about the real meaning of the holiday. The idea clicked with the President and Congress and since 1997, it became a standard American tradition. National Moment of Remembrance requires everybody to keep silent for a minute, exactly at 3.00 pm (local time) when 'Taps' is played and reflect on the glory of those who have shed blood for us.

If you can, please join in at 3:00 p.m. for a moment of silence, prayer, or blessing for those sacrificed in the name of our Freedoms.

Love to all and thanks to all those who serve,

  • The Five Minute Service

    Hello everyone!

People tell me all the time  they would do more service/ritual to the Lwa (Vodou Spirits) but they "just don't have the time."  Now I realize that we could go back at them saying that they should or could "make the time."  However, in today's world, that sometimes is not as easy as it sounds!   But almost anyone can find five minutes in a day to do my quickie service below.

The service does assume that you have a few things on hand and have some basic knowledge of ritual:  Candles (keeping a few white candles on hand is great because you can use them for any lwa), a glass of water or other beverage, and a small food offering that would be appropriate for almost any lwa (something simple such as a cookie or even a piece of bread).

You can do this quick service almost anywhere!

    1.  Put your candle with a glass of water or other beverage on a counter or table.

    2.  As you light the candle, ask Papa Legba to "please open the gate for me and allow ___________ (which ever lwa you are honoring) to pass over."

    3.  "Present" the glass of water by holding it out to the East, West, North, and South.  Say, "For you __________________ (which ever lwa you are honoring)."

    4.  Place the water back down near the candle.

    5.   "Present" the food offering as per #3 above.  Place it down next to the water and candle.

    6.  Take one or two minutes to talk with the lwa you have asked to come over to you.  You might have a request or perhaps you are just wanting to honor that particular lwa.

    7.   Thank the lwa and Papa Legba for their time and help.

    8.  If you can, leave the candle burning (safely) for a little while longer while you do other things.  This is a great little service to do while you are getting ready for the day.   You can start it up, get showered and dressed, and then end the service.  If you need to close out the service more quickly, then just proceed to Step #9.

    9.  Extinguish your candle and ask Papa Legba to "close the gate when it pleases you."  You can leave the food and water  for disposal until later or even the next day.  If you need to get rid of it more quickly it is great if you can pour the water outside and leave the cookie/food outside somewhere.  If you cannot, then just dispose of the water down the sink and wrap the cookie/food up in brown paper (such as just a brown paper bag) and throw it away.

There you did a little service in five minutes!  And yes, it counts.  Yes, it can help.  Yes, it is pleasing to the lwa.  Folks have a tendency to think that the lwa will only respond to big, elaborate
service.  That just isn't true.  Every service that is well intended is well received!

Please continue to have a great and safe weekend!

    Love,
    Mambo Sam

  • Memorial Day Plans

    Hello dear readers!

As Parran Matt and I were doing some errands today, we could not help but notice the amount of campers and cars packed up leaving for the long holiday weekend!  If you aren't traveling, Memorial Day… or any time this weekend is a great time to do a ritual for your ancestors, General Ogoun, or even Baron Samedi!

As we honor our fallen heroes, honoring our ancestors, even if they weren't military, is a great way to spend some time this Memorial Day weekend.  Of course, doing some ritual for General Ogoun Feraille or Baron Samedi is also a great way to honor our fallen military personnel!

When you do these kinds of services, it isn't the kind of service where you ask for something – it shouldn't be goal-oriented other than your goal being simply to say that you want to honor those who have fallen in the service of their country – even if it isn't the USA.  A lot of our dear Spellmaker clients are not in the USA!  But more than likely you have a military who has fought to keep your country safe, too!  So our Memorial Day can be everyone's Memorial Day as far as I am concerned.

Light a candle and ask General Ogoun or Baron Samedi to send a blessing to these fallen ones.  Just say that you want to honor them and send your good energy to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and helped make our freedoms possible.

It just takes a few minutes to do a small service and send out your good vibes and ask for protection for those still serving in our military!

    Love to all,

  • Feast of the Archangels

    Hello everyone!

Today is the Feast of the Archangels – Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel.  :-)  I won't go into detail here except to say that this is a GREAT power day for Vodouisants and other spiritualists.  If you come to the Spellmaker Online Voodoo Conference in September, I will be explaining how this particular feast day figures into our New Orleans Voodoo liturgy!

Of course,I bet some of my smartie pants Khouzhans can figure it out!  LOL.  Love you!

  • For a smile.

    The Park Bench
    Poet: Unkown

Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn – not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful too.
That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the first time
That weed-toting boy could not see he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

  • The “Good-Enough” Marriage????

    Happy almost Friday, everyone! 😉

Okay, so I am sure the title of this post has you wondering what the HECK Mambo is up to with that title? LOL. Well,it isn’t exactly my title. 😉

There is an article that I want you to read and tell me what you think! Some of you can guess what I think, especially if you have had a consultation with me and you told me that your marriage and/or relationship was “okay.” You know what my answer was to that, but let’s not spoil the fun for everyone else. Hahahahahaha.

Anyway, I would like to know what you think of the concepts presented in this article. You can join in our discussion by simply clicking on the “Comments” link under this article and typing in your comments. You can come back to this article and click on that link again to join in further discussion as more people comment. You can comment on comments! I only ask that everyone respect everyone else’s opinion, even if it differs.

When I saw this article I just wondered how many people out there of marrying/relationship age, especially if you happen to be a little bit older and waiting for Prince Charming or Mr. Right or Mr. Soulmate, would agree with this article. Or do you disagree, and why? Or is there no easy answer? 😉

Let me know what you think!

  • Working on Communication with Sex Magick

    Happy Thursday, everyone!
Of course by now most of you know that we recently launched our new sex magick products. Many of you have let us know of some really great results that you have had in enhancing and encouraging those special intimate relationships in your life! 🙂

During a recent consultation with a very dear client, he asked me about using the sex magick products in conjunction with our extremely popular Famous Red Mummy candle kit. I was very excited to guide him that, yes, indeed, these products could be used together quite successfully!!

Now, quite often the Red Mummy is used to “control” a situation and I am not suggesting that you try to sexually control anyone at any time! However, the other usage of the Red Mummy is to help open the path of communication with someone. That is where I felt like my wonderful client had really hit the nail on the head. 😉

Successful communication with sexual intimacy can be very key in a good relationship. Also, using these products in conjunction with each other to communicate your sexual needs to someone as well as receive communication about their sexual needs is another great use of these products together.

Needless to say, communicating with your partner (or desired partner) in a spiritual way to lead to the intimacy of a true, loving, spiritual and sexual relationship is something very powerful! Remember, when you are doing the sex magick itself, you are calling on the very power of creation. There isn’t anything more powerful than that! So when you call in the Red Mummy into the equation of the sex magick, you are now creating an atmosphere of communication, understanding, and nuturing. In this type of atmosphere, a relationship is encouraged to grow and blossom, both sexually and spiritually. It really is the best of two worlds, melding them into one!

Now don’t worry if you don’t know how to use these products together! That is what your caseworker is for! If you desire to use these particular products in conjunction with each other, please ask your caseworker to help you with how to do this properly. (What? You say you don’t have a caseworker?? Now why not? It’s fun, it’s free, it’s fabulous! Just write to mycase@spellmaker.com and request that someone be assigned to help you!)

And as to my dear client who had this idea in the first place: Thank you my friend, you know who you are! Love you!!!!

Love, light, and peace to all,
    Mambo Samantha Corfield

  • Good Friday in New Mexico

Hello everyone! I know many of you have heard me speak of the church here in New Mexico, Santuario de Chimayo. This little church, built in the 1800’s, sits high in the New Mexico mountains and has been nicknamed “the Lourdes of America” due to the many documented healings that have taken place there.

There is a tradition here of the faithful walking up the mountain to the Santuario from as far as 100 miles away! This happens every Good Friday here in New Mexico with different families along the route of the pilgrimage opening their homes to the faithful who walk. There are also re-enactments of different religious events and lots of volunteers to help those who walk.

I found an article with pictures that I thought you all might enjoy:

  • Hello everyone! Sister Bridget’s blog today is about the Pink Moon! I know a lot of you “old timers” use the Pink Bubble Meditation that I posted last year quite a bit. But I thought that perhaps some of the newer people don’t know about it and it seemed like a great day to repost it. I can’t think of a better time to do the Pink Bubble Meditation than during the Pink Moon! 🙂 Happy meditating!

    Post Reprint:

Hello everyone!  Have you attempted meditation?  Meditation has been around for centuries and is used for many different manifestations of life:  health, love, anger management, relaxation, etc.  There are literally thousands of ways to meditate and assist in the manifestation of your goals.

In spell work we are often trying to attain a particular goal:  It may be love, money, a job, etc.  Whatever our reason for doing the spell work, adding in some creative meditations can certainly be a way of assisting your situation.

Over the upcoming weeks, I would like to share with you some of my favorite meditation techniques. I hope you enjoy them!  The meditation technique below, the "Pink Bubble Meditation", is a wonderful meditation to use if you are working with our favorite love lwa, Erzulie Freda or working with pink candle magick or any other love magick.  🙂

    Love, Mambo Sam

    Pink Bubble Meditation Technique

This meditation is simple and wonderfully effective.
    Exercise:

    • Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and breathe deeply, slowly, and naturally. Gradually relax and feel this meditation taking you deeper and deeper.
    • Imagine something that you would like to manifest. Imagine that is already happened.
    • Picture it as clearly as possibly in your mind. Now in your mind’s eye surround your fantasy with a pink bubble; put your goal inside the bubble. Pink is the color associated with the heart, and if this color vibrations surrounds whatever you visualize, it bring to you only that which is in perfect affinity with your being.
    • The third step is to let go of your bubble and imagine it floating off into the universe, still containing your vision. This symbolizes that you are emotionally ‘letting go” of it.
    • Now it’s free to float around the universe, attracting and gathering energy for it’s manifestation.

  • Some Ideas About Combination Work!

    Happy Monday, everyone!
Lately it seems that a number of you have had some questions about combination work. I suppose first off, we should talk a little bit about what combination work actually is.

What we here at Spellmaker term combination work is when you are working with adjunct work, such as candle magick kits, voodoo doll work, Cosmic Voodoo™ Eggs, etc. These are products that are generally used to enhance, strengthen, or work on details during or after one has used the regular Cosmic Voodoo™ spell kits.

So what I would like to do is go over a series of ways to use certain products over the next few days. Feel free to ask any questions you have simply by commenting in the comment section below. 🙂

So today I would like to talk about the Red Mummy Candles. Most often we recommend that these candles be used to open up communication between yourself and someone else, or perhaps even two people that you would like to communicate better with each other. For instance, let's say that you have a man in your life who doesn't get along well with your children or your children don't accept him in your life. In that case, you could use the Red Mummy to petition for that man and your children to open up communication between themselves, separately from you, to build their own relationship.

For the most part, however, we use the Red Mummy to help us with communication between ourselves and someone else. So that is great! However, you can also use that Red Mummy in combination with, for instance, a white gender candle(appropriate to the sex of the person that you want to work on) to petition away negative energy from a bad argument, or any other type of negative communication you had with a person. If you need a person to "forget" a bad incident between you, then you can use the white male or female candle along with a Red Mummy to facilitate that.

The Red Mummy could also be used with your love doll to open up communication between you and the person you love – to make that communication loving and sweet and romantic.

Since communication is KEY to any and all relationships, using the Red Mummy in combination with almost any of your other adjunct products can help bring about the type of communication you want and help insure that you get that perfect dialogue going with that someone special.

In many instances, you could use, for instance, two white image candles – let's say you are a male/female couple – one white image candle to represent you, one to represent your intended, and also use the Red Mummy. In this way you can petition to open up that communication between the two of you, stating HOW you want it to happen, WHEN, and WHAT is the nature that you want the communication to take. You could also use it with a red set of image candles, pink set, etc., depending on what kind of communication you want: Positive where there has been something negative happening to your communication with this person (use white candles with the Red Mummy. Romantic where things have been cold (use the pink candles with the Red Mummy). Passionate and loving where loving communication has been at a stalemate (use the red candles).

I am sure you can think of many ways yourself to use the Red Mummy; just think in terms of communicating with that person you want to be with! I would love to hear the creative ways some of you have come up with to use the Red Mummy in combination with other products. We talked a lot about this in class. Have any of you used those techniques? How did it work out for you?

If you are confused on how to use this kind of combination work, please ask your caseworker! They are there to help you! 🙂 It can be a little tricky trying to use more than one product at a time in combination with each other, but it can be done. Just ask if you need help with it!

    Love, light, and peace,
    Mambo Sam
