  • Papa Legba Songs.

    Hello~

Seeing how we are in the middle of Papa Legba month, thought it would be nice to share some songs with each other that we use when working with dear Papa. Please feel free to post a reply and let us know what song(s) you find that Papa really likes. You never know, there could be a prize again this time….

I'll  start, tho its one we all know about. And kudos to Khouzhan Athena and her lovely video!

    Light and Love

    Sister Bridget

    Papa Legba lyrics

    (Talking Heads Version)

You'll be, hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm, magnet for money
You'll be, mm-mm-mm-mm, magnet for love
You'll feel, hmm, light in your body
Now I'm gonna say, gonna say these words:
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempo
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempo
It might hmm-mmm-mm-mm…It might rain money
It might hm-hi-hi-hi…It might rain fire
    Now I'm gonna call,
    Gonna call on Legba.
    Get yourself a sign
    Get your love and desire.
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempo
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempou
    Papa Legba,
    Come and open the gate.
    Papa Legba,
    To the city of camps.
    Now, we're your children
    Come and ride your horse
    In the night
    In the night
    Come and ride your horse
    There is a queen
    Of six sevens and nines
    Dust in your garden
    Poison in your mind
    There is a king
    That will steal your soul
    Din't let him catch you,
    Don't let him get control.
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempo
    Rompiendo la monotonia del tiempo
    Papa Legba,
    Come and open the gate
    Papa Legba,
    To the city of camps
    Now, we're your children
    Come and ride your horse
    In the night
In the night, come and ride your horse
    In the night
In the night, come and ride your horse
    In the night
In the night, come and ride your horse
  • Voodoo Lamp Oil.

    Oilsample

I was finishing up some lamp work for a dear client yesterday, and had to take a picture of this vial of oil. It looked so pretty with the herbs, I really wanted to share this with you all.

  • Still I Rise.

Perseverance seems to be a theme near and dear to me lately. When I came across this poem by Maya Angelou, it really spoke to me….I hope you find some inspiration in it as well.

    Still I Rise

    by Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
    I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
    I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise

    I rise. I rise.

If you do a good job for others, you heal yourself at the same time,

because a dose of joy is a spiritual cure. It transcends all barriers.
