The Marassa are twin spirits that represent duality, balance, and unity. They are considered the first children of Bondye and embody the concept of harmony between opposites. While they are twins, they are depicted as three because of the third Marassa, the Marassa Dossou. This is the one they other two are searching for. In Vodou, the next child in a family who bore twins is considered the Marassa Dossou, completing the trio - a very coveted set of circumstances.
