{"id":73,"date":"2023-02-01T09:22:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T09:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spellmaker.com\/blog\/?p=73"},"modified":"2023-02-01T09:22:00","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T09:22:00","slug":"imbolc-maman-brigitte-and-st-brigid-oh-my","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spellmaker.com\/blog\/?p=73","title":{"rendered":"Imbolc, Maman Brigitte, and St. Brigid &#8211; Oh My!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-header\"><a href=\"https:\/\/voodooboutique.typepad.com\/mambosam\/2012\/02\/imbolc-maman-brigitte-and-st-brigid-oh-my.html\">Imbolc, Maman Brigitte, and St. Brigid &#8211; Oh My!<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-body\">\n<p>Greetings one and all!<\/p>\n<p>As many of you may already know &#8211; tomorrow, February 2, is St. Brigid&#39;s day, Imbolc, Candlemas,<a href=\"https:\/\/voodooboutique.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00e54edc5c68883301630088bb92970d-pi\"><\/a><br \/>and the Feast of St. Brigid.&#0160; To Vodouisants, Catholics, Pagans, and more, this is a wonderful day anticipating spring, looking for new love, and being ready to shed off the cold of winter.<\/p>\n<p>A popular prayer for this day is:<\/p>\n<p><em>&quot;Blessed be the earth, and all who dwell upon it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We give thanks for the season now departing from us,<\/em><br \/><em>For the blessings it has bestowed upon us,<\/em><br \/><em>And upon those with whom we share this world.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Blessed be the new season.<\/em><br \/><em>We pray that it will be a time filled with peace,<\/em><br \/><em>With abundance, with prosperity,<\/em><br \/><em>With wisdom,<\/em><br \/><em>With love.&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For Vodouisants, tonight, the eve of&#0160; St. Brigid&#39;s Day,&#0160;is when we put a piece of clothing outside for Maman Brigitte to bless with her healing powers.&#0160; Take any piece of clothing, or even a scarf to tie your head with, and put it outside tonight.&#0160;&#0160;Ask Maman Brigitte to walk your way tonight and bless that piece of clothing.&#0160;&#0160;Light a small fire outside for a little while, even if you just burn&#0160;a candle. Before you go to bed, burn the veve of Maman Brigitte in the fire.
