In the northern hemisphere, the<br \/>\nHarvest Moon is the full moon closest to the September equinox. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The Harvest Moon ushers in the year\u2019s<br \/>\ngrandest procession of moon-filled nights. Farmers once relied on these several<br \/>\nnights of dusk-till-dawn moonlight to gather their crops. Tonight\u2019s Hunter\u2019s<br \/>\nMoon is similar to the Harvest Moon, except the effect is less pronounced.<br \/>\nEvery full moon rises around sunset and shines all night long. On average, the<br \/>\nmoon rises 50 minutes later daily. But the few days after the September and<br \/>\nOctober full moons, the moon rises farther north along the horizon for several<br \/>\ndays in succession. In the northern hemisphere, this means earlier-than-usual<br \/>\nmoonrises and longer moonlit nights.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Just remember, whether you live in the<br \/>\nnorthern or the southern hemisphere, the full moon tonight will shine from dusk<br \/>\ntill dawn.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">These names date back to the Native<br \/>\nAmericans in the eastern and northern parts of North America, who had various<br \/>\nnames for the Full Moon during each month of the year. European settlers<br \/>\nquickly adopted the Moon names used by the Native American groups, though most<br \/>\npeople today are only aware of a few of those names. October&#8217;s Full Moon is<br \/>\ncalled the &quot;Hunter&#8217;s Moon&quot; or sometimes the &quot;Blood Moon&quot; or<br \/>\n&quot;Sanguine Moon&quot;.
