  • Rutt Rowe and other things….

    Hello!

For a while now, I have been following Mike Rowe on Facebook.  You may remember Mike from the TV show Dirty Jobs, or recognise his voice from the Deadliest Catch.  Mike is a smart guy, and has alot of interesting things to say.  He is not political. He is not irrational. He is well read, realistic and very well spoken.  He has a foundation in which he is working hard to create well trained workers to fill the many open job opportunities here in America. His posts can be very entertaining (see the ones about the contest to name his new puppy – Fred won, but I was so rooting for Rutt!). Today, tho, I read some words from Mike that fully stopped me in my tracks…..

"What you do, who youโ€™re with, and how you feel about the world around you, is completely up to you."

Seems simple at first glance, right? Obvious, even. Then sit with it a while and see what questions come up for you.  Do you begin to notice some icky little demons pop out of the closet in your mind? Boundary issues?  Empowerment struggles? Self doubt? I know I did!

It is worth a little time to sit with these words and examine what in you is holding you back from being happy. Happy in your relationships, Happy in your job, Happy in your head – The choice is ours. It always  has been.

    Love,

    Sister Bridget

PS Thanks, Mike. And if you ever do decide to run for President, you have my vote!

  • Love Poems as Petitions

Hello everyone! I hope your weekend is going great! A lot of times I hear from clients that they feel like they are running out of things to say during their petitions; that perhaps they are just saying things by rote and they seem to have lost their zing!

One thing I encourage people to do is write a nice poem and make that their petition. But not everyone is a poet! ๐Ÿ™‚ That is okay, a quick search on the internet for "love poems" will yield you a treasure trove of good (and some not so good) love poems.

Back in the days of chat class, we talked a bit about how rhythm and cadence and rhyme exist in almost all spell work. Poetry, of course, falls right into that category! A great number of love poems seem like they were written for spell work! ๐Ÿ™‚ Take this one for instance:
    A Special World

A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.

And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

    – Sheelagh Lennon –

This poem would be lovely to use with your love doll Or just imagine using this when doing candle magick work, especially if you were doing work with candles representing each of you! Oh or even during something such as a love bath! It would be wonderful.

Even if this poem is not your cup of tea, that is fine. There are tons of them out there or write your own. It is not that the poem is meant to replace regular petitioning, but it could certainly spice up and strengthen it.

As I find more good ones, I will certainly post them here!

    Love, light, and peace,

  • The Return of SOBO!

The Spellmaker Family is again planning a free group ritual for the great Lwa of wealth and security, Sobo! We had such great feedback about the first ritual, that it will be repeated this month on St. Patrick's Day!

As before, absolutely no purchase is necessary to participate or to be included in our Family ritual. A ritual kit is available for those who are interested, but the full ritual has been posted online by Mambo Sam as well.

Be sure to  send in your ritual request to us as soon as possible. All you need to do is send us an email to sobomylwa@spellmaker.com.
This will insure that you are included in our family ritual on December
9, 2008. In your email to us you should explain what your financial
needs are and what you hope for us to accomplish by including you in
the ritual. We suggest that you make your requests something that
actually stands a good chance of happening: A promotion at work,
finding a job, having old debts paid, finding new ways to make money,
keeping your job(!), etc.,etc. We do NOT recommend that you ask for
something such as winning the lottery. Everyone wants to win
the lottery!! But this is not something easily controlled by spiritual
methods! It is too impersonal and involves things that spirits would
not know how to control. Plus if one million people are petitioning to
win the lottery, what happens if they all win? Why would only YOU win??
Therefore, it is important to try to make your petitions make sense for
your life – what could happen in your personal life to insure your
wealth and security? If you are unsure, then simply ask that the
spirits find the best way to help you! That is a good petition!!

"See"  you all on St Patrick's Day and much luck and love to you all!
