As a Voodoo couple, they can bring their power to a very wide variety of situations!

  • Once in a Blue Moon!

    Hello everyone,

I am sure that most of you have seen that tonight we are having a blue moon! :-)  While there are some variations on the definition of a blue moon, this one is categorized as such due to the fact that it is the second full moon in the same month.

So what does this mean for us magickally?  According to moon magick beliefs, this is a great time to decide on setting new goals.  This is a time of creativity and starting new projects.  If you have going through something and want to have a fresh start, tonight is great time to put some energy towards that thought process.

Light yourself a nice candle, put on some mood music, and write in your journal about any new projects that you would like to plan. Put some energy towards the idea that you are wanting a clean start on an old problem. Set goals for upcoming events and projects.  This is an awesome time to thing magickally, creatively, and with thoughts of letting go of past failures and looking forward to new successes.

This is also a good time to charge up ritual objects that you might have – put them out in the moonlight!

If the weather holds out, charge yourself out in the moonlight, too!  Visualize the enriching rays filling you with promises of success, letting go of past failures, and sticking to new goals.

Since we won't get another blue moon of this type until January 31, 2018, I think I will make some blue moon oil!  It's pretty easy!

What you need:  1 lodestone, 1 piece of iron pyrite, some blue violet leaves and whatever carrier oil you prefer.  Throw them into a mason jar, shake them up, and leave them out in the moonlight overnight. Voila! Blue moon oil charged up under the light of the blue moon.  This is an oil that can be used to consecrate objects, work with new projects, goal setting, creativity, etc.

    Have fun!

    Best regards,

  • To my soulmate…..

    Hello,

I came across this article just yesterday online. It addresses something which Mambo Sam has said, well, forever, which is this more than one person (some call it soul mates) for each of us.  I believe many of us have experienced that strong moment of recognition of another person that is almost indescribable. You feel as if you know them, I mean really know them, and yet how can that logically be when your first glimpse of him/her was just a moment ago?

Imagine if there were truly only one person we were supposed to meet up with while here on Earth. How long would the odds be that first, we would actually find them… it is a big planet, after all. And then if we do find them, that they are available? And that we are also available? And then that there is no cultural or economic or other issue which is not getting in the way? See where this is going?

With that in mind, it makes sense to me that we have multiple opportunities to love in this life. Because, as the author sums up so well…

"It is powerful to acknowledge these soulmates and thank them for the small reminder that in this massive, swallowing world we are never without the possibility of love."

    Hope you enjoy the article!

    Love,

    Sister Bridget

    Begin article:

To my Soulmate which I choose not to love

    by Janne Robinson

I have a theory that we have multiple ā€œones.ā€

That there is not just one soul reserved for us to love, learn and go deep with.

This was a hard lesson to learn, meeting my first soulmate, one—what have you, and realizing I wasn’t going to spend the rest of my life with him.

I remember grieving the day he got engaged, because in a hopeful, stubborn way part of my heart had refused—until that moment—to believe he wasn’t my forever person.

He was on the wishful back burner of my heart.

I called my mother, in tears and she told me that he still was my person. He still was a one. He was still my soul mate.

I realized that just because he wasn’t my forever didn’t invalidate his importance in my life and our connection.

Our connection has remained something incredibly significant, something I fall back upon in my heart when I need to.

When I need to remember exactly what I want in a partner, I remember what a staggering soul he is—and I wait.

I want to talk today about the other ā€œones,ā€ the soulmates we may meet while we are single or in a relationship that we don’t end up with.

That we have a sure fire connection with, real as any—but because of timing we don’t always go deep with.

I think it is incredibly mature to, without shame, acknowledge that in our lifespan we will bump into handfuls of succulent souls we want to take a bite out of.

Whether we are single, in a relationship, engaged or married we will run into other ones.

I also don’t think acknowledging these connections means we love our partners or want to be in our relationship less—it just means there’s a f*ck ton of souls/lovers on this planet we could dance with/learn from.

They are the ones we meet in a coffee line-up, the one beside us in our yoga class, the guy at the bbq who’s engaged.

It’s the ones we meet and feel an undeniably powerful connection.

A connection that leaves us wanting to know more.

I think we make a choice, whether we engage in these connections.

These words are for the ones we meet and don’t explore.

The ones we love fully but don’t spend the rest of our lives with.

Those we run into at the grocery store and never see again.

The lovers we never take apart with our lips.

The partners we don’t open to and go deep with.

The people we don’t have a chance to have a first soul dip with.

The soul mates we skip coffee with, and look over our shoulder—for just a slight moment and wonder about.

The connections that exist that are missed, by choice.

Because we are involved, because they are unavailable, because one is simply not ready for love.

These ones are just as important as the forever–for we are here to connect, and what a gift to know that there are endless humans to open our hearts to and dance with.

What a treat to grow with multiple souls in a lifespan, or to simply know there are others out there who want to grow with us.

It is powerful to acknowledge these soulmates and thank them for the small reminder that in this massive, swallowing world we are never without the possibility of love.

  • The Making of a New Oil – Holy Spirit Psalm Oil

    Hello everyone,

Hope your summer is going great so far!  People often asks how we do things… oil making is definitely one of those things that people ask about. I thought using our new Holy Spirit Psalm Oil as an example would be a good way to explain how we do it. We have this oil available both on the website and in our Etsy shop.

First, new products are added as we see a need for them.  Nothing we sell at www.spellmaker.com is arbitrary. Nearly every product has been created because a number of people asked for it.  Obviously, since 1995 there has been a lot of asking.

Holy Psalms for Magic UsesThere is a lot of interest in the Psalms of the Bible both for religious and magickal reasons.  The idea was born to make an oil that could be used both ways; it is appropriate for religious practices and also for magickal practices.  All of the nine ingredients in the oil are mentioned somewhere in the Bible.  This includes things like mustard seed, rose, olive oil, etc.

Second, with all of our oils, there is a "mother."  The mother is the first batch of the oil with all of its herbs, stones, resins, etc.  Usually this is made in a glass jar of some kind.  Every Spellmaker oil that you have used had a mother.  Naturally, over the almost 20 years, the mother has been absorbed into most of the oils but we continue to use the same containers and keep the essence of the oil alive over the years.

With the Holy Spirit Psalm oil, we started out with our dry ingredients not mixed with the wet ingredients.  Everthing was consecrated and dedicated separately and left to absorb the consecration energy for three days.  On the third day, the ingredients were mixed and two jars of mother oil were made.  These were then left for 7 days to steep and create their own spectacular energy.  The oil turned out to be amazing!!

This oil is great for praying with the Psalms in a religious way and in a magickal way (and we provide you with a PDF of the Book of Psalms and also a PDF of how to use the oil in candle burning as well as with certain affirmations that go with certain Psalms).  It is also perfect for protection, blessing, anointing… just about anything, really, for which you would want to use a good all-purpose oil.

If you have a problem with things of a "Christian" nature, then all I can say is don't use it!  But remember, the Psalms, historically speaking, predate the birth of Jesus.  In fact, many theologists, including yours truly, see some of it as a prediction of the birth of Jesus.  But that is a discussion for another day, I suppose.

Magickal usage of the Psalms has been around for more years than any of us really know. Particular Psalms are prayed for particular things.  Many books have been written about the magickal usages of the Psalms! If you look at the page referenced above where the Psalm oil is listed on our website, and take a look at the document about Candle Burning and Affirmations, you will get the idea how the Psalms are used in magickal practices.  (It's free to download the documents.)

Anyway, hope this gives you an idea of how we have always made our oils!

    Love, light, and peace,

  • Why do we need spiritual protection?

    Hello everyone!

Very often people will ask me about protection charms, spells, oils, rituals, etc.  We have many things to use for protection at www.spellmaker.com

However, sometimes when I ask them do they mean physical or spiritual protection they ask me, "Do I need spiritual protection?"  YES!  We all do.  Sometimes I think we need it now more than we have ever in the past.  The world is a changing place, and right now, I am not sure that it is changing for the better. (Might have to have a whole post just on that!)

Spiritual protection is something we can all benefit from!  Mean people, negative people, negative energies, evil spirits (though that is the least of it usually, mostly it is humans we need protection from, even ourselves!), self-imposed negativity, lack of confidence, low self worth… all of these types of things harm us.  Spiritual protection can help us battle those things!

One of the items we use is a spiritual protection charm.  It is consecrated on the points of the great power couple lwa, LaSiren and Agwe.

Every so often, we change out the designs of the charms – truthfully, the design of the charm is inconsequential, though we always want them to look nice! The power in the charm is what we do to it here to make it work for you AND what you do to it when you get it to make it powerful.  Our team efforts, yours and ours, is amazing! :)

Anyway, we recently changed out the design of our spiritual protection charm – it is a beautiful stainless steel mermaid! I don't know how long this design will last – we use a small manufacturer who doesn't always have the same designs.  But we enjoy the personal attention from them and love to support small business!

Spiritual protection is important… it can be complicated or it can be simple.  Sometimes that depends on your circumstance and how much negativity you are encountering.

The Spiritual Protection Charm is simple, beautiful, and a great place to start with spiritual protection!

(Please note that the picture on the website might not have been updated yet, but it is the mermaid shown below, while supplies last!)

    Best to all,

  • ‘Tis the Season!

    Hello good folks!

Seasoned Spellmaker friends and family know the season of which I speak:  Love Potion #9 making season!

Remember, Love Potion #9 is made starting 9:00 a.m. on 9/9 – every year! So the time is coming soon!

This potion IS a drinkable potion.  It is meant to slip a little bit into your intended's drink or food.  It is a classic love potion. There are some other lesser known usages that I will also blog about later.

But what, if you say, you do not have an "intended" or you don't have access?  Take heart, make the potion anyway.  I feel like making this potion is a great affirmation stating that you will get your intended (or someone better!).  Besides, the potion making process is pretty wonderful, soothing, magickal!

The recipe for the potion is located on the Spellmaker website, right where it has been for years and years:

    http://www.spellmaker.com/potion9.htm

Khouzhan Lucy posted on the Spellmaker Novitate blog about it, too! šŸ™‚

So get to planning, get to making! Oh, and as we found out in 9/9/9 – it cans really well! If you are into canning or can boil some water and use a canning jar, it seals up nicely and when we opened one to check it three years later  - still perfect!

    Love, Mambo Sam

  • Maybe it is You?

Happy Friday, everyone!  Hope your week went well!  Mine seemed to fly by! šŸ™‚  That isn't a bad thing, right?

As one might suspect, I spend a great deal of time asking for and receiving guidance from our great Vodou Spirits (the lwa, les lois).  In the instances where I am asking and receiving, it is very clear cut to me who needs what (since I am the one doing the asking  - LOL).  However, there are instances when I am sent on somewhat of a treasure hunt – someone needs something… what is it?  Where is it? šŸ˜‰

This time the guidance and the search took a rather circuitous route with me looking up different things for Papa Legba. (It is, after his month here at Spellmaker!)  The search for Papa goodies led me to a very powerful post that Khouzhan Menfo' had done some time back regarding a visit he made to a particular monument.

When I ran across that post the guidance that followed was one of those "no guessing" guidances… chills, smiles, tears, butterflies in my stomach.. all that good stuff!  That post was what I was looking for..someone, somewhere needs to see that post!  I don't know who.  I don't know where.  I don't even know if we here at Spellmaker even know the person – all I know is this – Papa says that it will be life-altering for someone.  It will set them on their path.   Maybe it isn't just one person?? That part of the guidance was shielded from me (and that happens, by the way, when the guidance is something that I am just a part of – that I am just a part of of something bigger than just me and what I do).

I am sure that whomever is supposed to see this post will!   I hope that they will join in on one or more of the Papa Legba free rituals this month, too! šŸ™‚

So, anyway, you will see me posting this post just about everywhere that I post things (how many times can I say a version of "post" in a sentence?).

CLICK HERE TO READ THE POST BY KHOUZHAN MENFO'

I feel assured that this will reach the folks that it is supposed to!  Happy to be merely the guide who leads you to it!

I would love it if Khouzhan Menfo's post inspires you in some way and you leave us a comment! It would be great to hear what feelings it brought to you!

  • Making Me the Superstar of My Life

I know many of you remember our wonderful past office manager, Berkeley. I left her blog up after she left because she had a lot of wisdom up there! Still does! I wanted to share this blog of hers with you all because it is just wonderful!

    Love, Mambo Sam

P.S.  By the way, Berkeley is doing GREAT!  :-)  I am so very proud of all that she has accomplished!

    ———————————-

Here is the blog post from Berkeley:

I have a tendency to obsess.
I obsess about everything, but it is the external that I cant control that I obsess over most. During spellwork this obsession is heightened. I (and no one) can control how someone processes spellwork, or how fast it will work.
Info about this is all over the spellmaker website, and I tell people over the phone every day how to deal with the effects, but the bottom line is that spellwork (especially for love related issues) is hard. Spellwork creates this emotional rollercoaster that can truly be rough.

For the long haul it is worthwhile for the person initiating the spell and the person being cast upon. If you have a tendency to obsess, like I do, then the entire situation becomes really hard!
Obsessing can be bad for you and your spellwork. It causes undue stress on you, and it tends to choke your spellwork – no matter what you are working towards. If you constantly think about and dwell on your spells, and pine for the person or the situation to come to fruition then you probably are doing exactly what I am doing – accidentally making the results take longer. I choke my spellwork all the time, because I cant stop obsessing.

After an ill advised conversation with my own HD starting with the words "what do you want in the future…?" I realized that I am not a high enough priority in my world. My mom made my dad and her kids the center of her universe. She gave all of herself to us, and now that we are grown and the rents are retired she is a little bitter about what she did and didn’t give to herself.

I appreciate the sacrifices my mom made for us, but I don’t want to repeat her mistakes regarding what she didn’t hold back for herself

I realized that I need to put my love related work on the back burner and become the star of my life. A lot of people, especially women, tend to make the person they are working on the star of their life. We all generally want to become a high priority in the lives of our HD (hearts desire – or recipient of love spellwork), but the trouble is we are not being a high priority in our own lives.

After talking to Sister Candelaria about it (yes, caseworkers casework each other) I let everything digest. I need to be the star of my life. I need to become the most important person to me. Sister Candelaria had some great suggestions that I am going to share because I know I am not the only one in this position. First is the Lady Samantha’s Hex Removal Spell kit. This kit will of course get rid of curses and anything someone has done to you, but it will also get rid of the things you do to your self! A lot of people tend to doubt themselves all the time, harbor insecurity, and hold on to the bad. Sometimes we just accidentally curse ourselves. This holds true for anyone regardless of spellwork. If you have not done spellwork, but some of this is ringing true for you then try this kit, it can help!

The other things that Sister Candelaria and I talked about were the spell Attract Love To Me  and theErzulie's Bain Rose D'Amourā„¢ Pink Bath Kit.   Now dont get me wrong, I don’t want to attract someone else’s love – I want to attract my own. I need to learn to put myself first, and be a little more selfish.  I dont know how to do this, and the Attract Love to Me and the Pink bath can help that.

    Thanks for reading

  • What the Funk?

    Hi everyone!

I don't know what is in the air, the water, or the oscillating energy textile vibrations of the Mars connection (okay, I made that last one up)!  Seriously, what is going on out there?  So many folks that I know are in a huge funk right now – is it the economy?  Is it some sort of global funkittude (yep, made that one up, too). Is it the political atmosphere? Disillusionment? What is causing this funk? (But, just think – if we get rid of that "k" then it turns into "fun!")

Well, if only it were that easy – I can drop that "k" and get FUN!  Truth is, it usually takes a lot more than dropping a letter to get us out of a funk!

Not even the best of good articles will completely do the trick – though this one is pretty great!

    http://www.highexistence.com/choose-happiness-5-ways-to-get-out-of-a-funk

I do believe understanding our funk is key!  Facing that situation head-on, although frightening, is going to help us much more than trying to hide from it.  Are you grieving?  Are you broke? Are you broken-hearted? Have you stopped believing in yourself? Do you just not give a damn right now?

Guess what?  You are not alone.  You might feel isolated, but truthfully a few trips around the Internet will let you see that you have a lot of company. Heck, a trip around your friends and family might let you see that you have a lot of company!  I truly believe that reaching out in some way to someone is key to helping shed that funk!  Someone who will listen to you rant, rave, and probably finally break down in tears is invaluable. I have found that sometimes just verbalizing my feelings, out loud (not in an email or text) can be so helpful. When I am done, it seems that I can, somehow, face those challenges that were dragging me down.

So I am going to say step one is talk to someone! All the self help tips in the world won't help you much if you don't feel like you have someone to talk to! Find that one person you can blather all the crap out to – hopefully someone who will just sit and listen – and then take a deep breath and figure out what, amongst all the self help stuff, can help you.  The article I reference above truly is a good one – it makes a lot of sense.  But, if you read the article, you will see that the gentleman who wrote it, first had sort of a "breakdown" to someone he loved! THEN he was able to go on to his self-help techniques!

Of course, at Spellmaker, we sell lots of stuff for helping with negative energy – white candles, baths, etc. And I do recommend them, obviously! Sometimes you have to keep working with things – white candles are a good example of that.  Using the white male or female image candles on yourself can sometimes be an ongoing thing!  It just depends on how much stress you have in your life!  There isn't anything wrong with feeling like you need to spark up your candle every so often and burn off that negative energy!

But most of all, I want you to talk with someone you trust!  Just for a minute, wallow in and embrace that funk! Tell them what you are feeling, tell them if you feel you are at the end of your rope… you might even tell them that you aren't looking for advice – you just want to vent! šŸ˜‰  Then, look for the things that will help you with the situations at hand!

I know that things seem insurmountable sometimes; I have a pile of stuff going on right now that seems exactly that!  I know that I will get through it.  But I share in your funk!  Maybe we can share in getting rid of it, too! šŸ™‚  Oh, and I almost forgot  - take it easy on yourself!!!!!  Not everything is your fault – I swear!

    Love, light, and peace,

  • On again/off again – frustrating relationships!

Good morning everyone!  Hope you are having a great Saturday.  Very often we get in our Heart's Desire letters for spellwork information that the relationship has been "on again/off again."  These relationships can be SO frustrating, right?  In fact, however, sometimes this can be an upward spiral in the relationship as you learn more about each other and learn what to do (and not to do!).

Very often, these kinds of relationships responds extremely well to love spell work!  I believe that is because there is something there or there would only be "off" and no "on again" to the relationship!  The couple is generally searching for a way to make things better – they keep coming back for more! šŸ™‚

Many times, we get some of our best spell casting results from those people who are in these kinds of relationshps – they know there is something worth fighting for! šŸ™‚

I like this article about on-again/off-again types of relationships! It can help put some things into perspective!
