Simple Exercises to Strengthen Your Intuition

Simple Exercises to Strengthen Your Intuition

Intuition is a little like a muscle. The more you use it, the easier it becomes to recognize its voice.

The problem is that most people spend years talking themselves out of their instincts. They second-guess themselves, dismiss feelings as “silly,” or ignore the quiet inner nudges that do not seem logical enough to trust.

But intuition rarely arrives as a booming announcement.

More often, it slips in softly. A feeling. A hesitation. A sudden certainty. A tiny inner whisper saying, “Pay attention.”

The good news is that intuition can absolutely be strengthened through practice. You do not need special gifts, expensive tools, or complicated rituals to begin. In fact, some of the best exercises are simple enough to fit into everyday life.

    The Card Exercise

Take a deck of playing cards or tarot cards and shuffle them well.

Before turning over the top card, pause for a moment and try to feel what is there. Do not overthink it. Notice the first impression that comes to mind:

    • red or black
    • major or minor arcana
    • hearts or spades
    • masculine or feminine energy
    • fast or slow feeling

Then flip the card over and see what you got right.

This exercise is not about perfection. It is about learning the feeling of intuition before the logical mind barges in wearing muddy boots and shouting opinions.

    The “Who Is Calling?” Practice

Before checking your phone when it rings or buzzes, stop for one second and guess who it is.

Again, do not force it. Let the first impression rise naturally.

Most people are surprised how often they begin getting little hits once they start paying attention.

    Bibliomancy

This is an old divination method that is beautifully simple.

Take a favorite spiritual book, poetry collection, Bible, folklore book, or even a beloved novel. Quiet your mind, ask a question silently, then open the book at random and place your finger somewhere on the page.

    Read the sentence or paragraph.

Sometimes the answer is startlingly direct. Sometimes symbolic. Sometimes oddly comforting in exactly the right way.

    The Dream Notebook

Dreams are one of the oldest roads into intuition.

Keep a notebook beside your bed and write down anything you remember immediately upon waking, even fragments:

    • colors
    • people
    • symbols
    • emotions
    • repeating locations
    • unusual animals
    • phrases

Over time, patterns often emerge. Certain symbols may become deeply personal to you. Water may always appear before emotional events. Roads may show up during periods of transition. Specific people may repeatedly appear as messengers or warnings.

The act of recording dreams also signals to the subconscious that you are listening.

    The Two-Choice Exercise

When faced with a small decision, pause before choosing.

    For example:

    • Which route should I drive?
    • Which book should I read next?
    • Which candle should I light tonight?
    • Which email should I answer first?

Hold one option in your mind, then the other.

Notice how each one feels in your body. Light? Heavy? Calm? Tight? Open? Resistant?

Intuition often speaks through physical sensation before words.

Sit in Silence for Five Minutes

    This sounds deceptively easy.

Most people are so surrounded by noise that they rarely hear their own inner voice anymore. Phones buzz. Videos autoplay. Thoughts race constantly like raccoons fighting in a dumpster behind the mind.

Five quiet minutes can feel strangely uncomfortable at first.

But silence creates space for intuition to rise.

Light a candle if you wish. Sit comfortably. Breathe slowly. Do not demand messages or visions. Simply become still enough to notice what naturally surfaces.

    Pay Attention to Repetition

One of the strongest intuition exercises is simply observing your own life more carefully.

    Notice:

    • recurring dreams
    • repeating songs
    • certain animals appearing frequently
    • names that keep surfacing
    • strange coincidences
    • sudden emotional pulls toward places, objects, or people

The goal is not paranoia or obsession. Not every bird is a prophecy from the universe. Sometimes a crow is simply a crow being gloriously loud and judgmental from a fence post.

    But repetition often carries meaning.

    Trust the First Whisper

One of the biggest intuition killers is over-analysis.

Many people receive an intuitive impression immediately, then spend the next twenty minutes arguing with themselves until the original feeling disappears under a pile of mental paperwork.

    Practice honoring the first whisper.

Not every feeling will be correct. That is normal. Intuition develops through use, patience, and discernment over time.

The important thing is learning to recognize the difference between genuine inner knowing and fear-driven spiraling.

Intuition usually feels calm and clear.

Fear usually feels loud and urgent.

    Final Thoughts

Strengthening intuition is less about becoming “psychic” and more about rebuilding trust with yourself.

Your inner voice has likely been speaking your entire life.

The real practice is learning how to hear it again.

  • New Orleans Red Witch Candle

    Hi!

I am taking today to say a few words here about one of my FAVORITE candles – The New Orleans Red Witch!

    A little background first.

The New Orleans Red Witch love candle is something that is used to acquire either new love or help rekindle an old love. It is a milder candle that is based on what was once known as "crimson witch magick." The Crimson Witch was supposedly once a real person (early 1800's) who did witchcraft to save marriages, get those girls or guys
who had no real prospects a relationship, etc. She was purported to be a kind old lady interested in bringing happiness to others. Interestingly enough, the legend goes that she never married having lost her own true love to some kind of accident.

This candle can be used for a variety of things. For a new case, a case in progress, any love situation where you want to lend a slightly softer, loving energy too. Not a power or control candle (along the lines of the Famous Red Mummy) the feelings from this candle are softer and  sweeter. Use the candle with one of your Gris Gris bags from any of the love spells. After beginning your session, chant a bit with your Gris Gris bag, then chat a bit or concentrate on what you are hoping to achieve.

This candle is a lunker! A bit bigger and heavier than the Famous Red Mummy candle. What does that mean? It means you can get MANY MANY sessions from just one candle. The Red Witch candle does come in a three pack for Mind Body Spirit, just like all our other candles. The three pack includes a bigger bottle of oil, bigger bag of herbs, a bag of 30 cones of incense and an incense burner! A three pack of Red Witches can keep you in good stead to do alot of candlework and send alot of sweet energy to your case for a long time 🙂

  • Intuition — Your Inner Guide

What I loved about this article was the last paragraph! (#4)! I mean, sometimes we can get one little piece of information that just doesnt fit anywhere else …. and its possible to worry it to death or make a mountain out of a mole hill 😉 Sometimes, its just a red herring.

    Intuition – Your Inner Guide

    by: Anne Walsh

Have you ever thought about someone out of the blue?and then they
called you. Have you ever made a decision that everyone else thought
was crazy, but you knew was right for you..and it worked out
perfectly? Have you ever followed your gut instinct on something and
was proved gloriously RIGHT! If any of these have happened to you, you
have experienced the power of intuition. Most of us at some stage wish
we could have an inner guide that would tell us the right thing to do.
The good news is that we do have an inner guide, the bad news is that
    the message can be fuzzy!

Benefits of being guided by intuition

So what are the benefits of following your intuition as opposed to
listening to the promptings of parents, partners and others? First of
all, this begins to give you confidence in your own judgment. It helps
you judge whether this person or opportunity is the right one for
you?even if it may not seem so on paper. Secondly I have never met
anyone who regretted following their intuition. Yes it may have meant
making a difficult decision but it WAS the right ultimate decision for
them. Many great business deals have been gone through on a hunch?or
    intuition?

    Developing your intuition

    1. Recognition: I have relied on intuition for making most of my major
decisions but I still have difficulty sometimes distinguishing between
it and just a passing thought, so here are some guidelines I use?

    a. Feeling: What’s the feeling around it? If it’s gentle that’s
usually a sign of intuition. Something that is fear-based and urgent
    is not intuition.

    b. Persistent: You find that you keep having the same thought about
    something, check it out.

    c. Messages: You find that the issue crops up again in all sorts of
ways..it gets mentioned on the news, you hear it in passing
    conversation.

    2. Trust. So after you have got these messages and confirmation, if
you wish to use this, you actually need to do something about it. You
must learn to trust this feeling. Follow promptings and see where they
    lead you?

    3. Openness: Be open to where intuition can lead you. One thing I can
promise you..is that you will be surprised and delighted by where it
    leads you..

    4. Sometimes it doesn’t mean anything. This is one thing I have
noticed about being guided by intuition. Sometimes hunches and gut
instincts don’t actually seem to mean anything?but we don’t know that
until afterwards?so accept that you may have the odd intuitive red
    herring!

So this week begin paying attention to your hunches. Call that friend,
read that book, make that call?and who knows what delightful things
    could come to your door..

  • White Candle Magick

    White Candle Magick

    ~

White candles have many uses – use them to heal (physical or emotional illness), for dispelling negativity, to gain spirituality, for protection, or to enhance any Magical Powers.

    ~

Basically, white is for healing – healing any hurt you or your target might have which makes them afraid to be in another relationship, healing any fear they have of being in a relationship, healing and removing the negativity inside them. A very thorough approach to healing with white candle magick is to use the “Mind Body Spirit” approach, in which each level is addressed with a candle of its own. This approach can take a little time to complete, but it is very very effective.

    ~

You can also use white candles for enhancing your own magical powers, for any spiritual work or for general protection. For protection for yourself or another, you might want to consider pairing the candle magick session with the Cosmic Voodoo Protection Gris Gris Bag or Protection Charms for an added boost!

    ~

A really underused but handy candle to keep on your shelf is a white seven knob candle. A Seven Knob candle is just that – a candle with carved “knobs” that is often used in Wish Magic. Each knob can be used for a separate or different wish! (or, if you want, you can use each knob for the same wish) BUT – using each knob for a different wish is what makes this candle so handy. As all you veteran spellcasters know, usually the petition for a candle is kept the same for the whole use of the candle… i.e one candle = one request/petition. With the seven knob candle, you get 7 different wishes if you want! So, no need to commit a full white female image candle to Aunt Sally who is having a bunion removed and you want to send her a just little healing energy; You can just use one knob on the white seven knob candle. Has you boss been a crab and you want to help lighten his mood a little – use one knob on the white seven knob candle. You get the picture. It’s a nifty candle to keep on hand!

    ~

White Image candles can be used in pairs as well. They are especially great at healing and releasing negativity in a relationship. If you are having tension or strain in a relationship with a friend or co-worker that you would like to help clear up magickally, take one image candle that would represent you and one white image candle of the appropriate sex that would represent your friend/co-worker. Use the candles as per the instructions, except have them facing each other. While doing the candle session, ask for healing and release of (fill in the blank for your situation) and replace the ickiness with (again, fill in the blank appropriately). I have even done this with THREE candles, when I was having difficulty with a pair of friends and it worked very very well for me.

    ~

Don’t forget, you can always add a few drops of Abre Camino Oil into the Annointing Oil that comes with the White Candle Magick kits when doing healing work!
