  • Feast of the Archangels

    Hello everyone!

Today is the Feast of the Archangels – Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel.  :-)  I won't go into detail here except to say that this is a GREAT power day for Vodouisants and other spiritualists.  If you come to the Spellmaker Online Voodoo Conference in September, I will be explaining how this particular feast day figures into our New Orleans Voodoo liturgy!

    Saints-michael-gabriel-raphael

Of course,I bet some of my smartie pants Khouzhans can figure it out!  LOL.  Love you!

  • Happy 09/09/09 to you!

Hello all you magickal creatures!  :-)  Parran Matt and I are preparing all the ingredients to make our Love Potion #9 for those of you who ordered it!  We have all the big pots in the house filling up with wine.  I picked the basil and roses right out of our own garden and we harvested the apple seeds last night (I am going to be making a lot of apple pie filling later on!).

Don't forget, though, this is a great day to do ANY magick, say prayers, light a candle, do whatever spiritual endeavors you like.  The power of the triple 3's in the 09/09/09 day is sure to give a huge boost to whatever magick you are doing!

Even if you can't do any magick today, try to allow the energy and power of this day wash over you.  Make it a lucky day for you!  Do something wonderful for yourself and someone else – remember that magick needs a carrier!  Be the magickal carrier today – spread joy and luck from your heart to the heart of others.

    Love, Mambo Sam

  • The New Charms are Ready!!!!

Hello everyone!  Just a quick note to let you all know that the first batch of new charms are ready!  I cannot even tell you how excited we are to offer these.  They are so nice and such a good quality… all shiny stainless steel on black leather cords with stainless steel clasps.  Nice!

Also, we are doing things a bit differently this time with charms:  Each charm is dedicated to a specific lwa and you will know who that lwa is. Our old charms were dedicated a little bit differently and worked great, but we are feeling these are going to be even better.  Now this doesn't mean throw your old charms away!  NO way!  However, you can use these with them or alone.

One thing that was a little disappointing about the old charms was that over the years the manufacturing of them had degenerated quite a bit.  When we first started carrying them almost 15 years ago, they were much better.  But as time passed, we noticed that we were getting a more inferior quality.  Now, that would not affect the overall efficacy of the charm, but still, we want to be giving you something nice for your money, too.  I mean I could consecrate a paper clip and it would have some power, but no one particularly wants to wear that… hmmm, wait, I think I saw a girl wearing a paper clip earring the other day so nevermind!  LOL.

Anyway, go check them out!!  We are excited!  Can you tell?  šŸ˜‰

  • What do you see?

    Hello everyone!
So many times when I am speaking with clients on the phone they are looking for a sign of something. They are looking for a sign that their spell work is working, they are looking for a sign that they are being heard. Some people are wondering if something is a sign or did they miss it. Often I think that some people just miss the signs that are presented to them because they are too busy to see them or they just don't know what they are looking for. šŸ™‚ Some signs are not so easy to see. So I thought we could start a little game where we try hard to see things, things that are not quite so apparent. I feel this will help in figuring out how to see the signs that are presented to you. Oh and I think it will be fun, too!

  • Meditation and Focus Exercise Day 9: How do I manifest….

Hello, welcome to Day Nine of our exercise.  This day we have a few choices in our meditation question.  In speaking of "love" we have some choices:  How do I manifest/keep/improve love in my life?  So depending on what is happening in your life, this question may be framed differently.

Instructions:  Take a few deep breaths and relax yourself. Stare at the picture below with the thought in mind:  "How do I…….?"   Spend about 3-5 minutes staring at the picture and asking yourself the same question, "Who do I love?" After about 3-5 minutes, write down some of your impressions.  When you are done writing, stare at the picture again and ask yourself the same question, "How do I….?" After about 3-5 minutes, write down your impressions. Repeat the process one more time.  After your final writing down of your impressions (you should have written something down three separate times), close your notebook and do not go back and read your impressions. Get up and get away from your computer for a few minutes, drink some water, or take a short walk.  Come back tomorrow for a wrap up of this exercise! šŸ™‚

  • Gearing up for Papa Alegba Ritual #2!

    Hello everyone!

Sorry to not have been blogging this last week or so. We have been taking a lot of time to work with the Papa Alegba ritual and get everyone’s petitions heard! šŸ™‚ Hopefully it will be helping a lot of you out really soon.

We are, of course, now gearing up for the next big ritual day, which will be on St. Lazarus’s feast day, June 21, 2009. If you have not gotten your petitions in and still want to participate, you certainly can! Just visit the page at www.spellmaker.com/legba.htm and follow the links to send in your special letter to Papa Alegba.

Since this particular feast day has to do with honoring also St. Lazarus, it is a great time to ask for something to be “resurrected” – whether it a love affair, a job, peace of mind, anything that you have felt is dead and gone! Now is a really good time to ask for that thing to be infused with new life.

I would also encourage you to honor St. Lazarus himself at this time. Remember, these Catholic saints have been used for many years now to represent a particular lwa. However, of course, the Saint him or herself is still a viable entity prayed to by millions every day. Therefore, honoring the Saint at this time is certainy a great thing to do. šŸ™‚

St. Lazarus, as most of you know, was a man said to be resurrected and cured by Jesus Christ. Lazarus was a leper and said to have died of his disease but because of Jesus’s fondness for him and his sisters, he was resurrected and cured of his disease. Whether you believe the biblical tale or not is inconsequential. If you are going to honor Papa on this day because it is St. Lazarus’s feast day, it is always a good idea to honor dear St. Lazarus himself.

There are Catholic prayers to St. Lazarus that you can find on the internet and incorporate into your ritual. You may also want to print out on of the holy pictures you can find of him – he is almost always depicted with dogs which is why he is often used for representing Papa. šŸ˜‰

Can’t wait to do this ritual, too!

    Mambo Samantha Corfield

  • Papa Legba Oil and the Red Mummy!

    Happy Wednesday, everyone!

We have started Papa Alegba month! šŸ™‚ As most of you know by now, of course, we are dedicating the whole month to Papa here at www.spellmaker.com! If you haven’t checked out his page and the information on how to get in on the free rituals, please do so at www.spellmaker.com/legba.htm.

As I have mentioned in many posts and teachings, Papa is a great communicator with the ability to speak and translate all languages and dialects. He can open many doors, including those doors of communication that are so important to all of us in all of our relationships.

Of course, we also have the Famous Red Mummy candle magick kit that we use for communication. šŸ˜‰ Now while it, naturally, comes with its own special bottle of oil, you can certainly also use some of the Papa’s Gatekey™ Oil on those red mummies, too! What better way to boost that communication than with Papa’s oil. It isn’t called “Gatekey” for NO reason! šŸ˜‰ And since communication is the “key” to all relationships, certainly you can see the correlation there!

So for those of you who have asked about putting this oil on your Red Mummy candles, the answer is absolutely yes! Oil that mummy up! It also certainly would not hurt to burn some of Papa’s Open Door™ incense with it, either!

    Love, light, and peace,

    Mambo Samantha Corfield

  • Papa Legba Month!

Hi everyone! Hopefully by now you have received the special email about June being Papa Legba month at www.spellmaker.com!

We will be doing three FREE main rituals on the feast days of the three saints with which Papa is syncretized. These three feast days all fall in June, thus our proclamation of June as Papa Alegba Month at Spellmaker! (June 13-Saint Anthony,June 21-Saint Lazarus,June 29-St. Peter). We will also be doing rituals throughout the month of June, but the main rituals will be on those days.

Of course, we are encouraging yuo to you to send in a letter with your petitions that you would like to be included in the rituals for Papa Alegba. When writing your letter, please be sure that you are writing the letter to Papa Alegba himself, and be sure that your letter is appropriate. For example, you would NOT write to Papa Alegba asking, “Please make Johnny love me.” However, if yours is a love case you could ask Papa to “Please open communication between Johnny and I so that he can see the love in my heart.” The difference is subtle, but important. You could also ask Papa to remove blockages and clear the path between you and the one you love.

Communication is such a huge part of all relationships of any kind – love, work, friends, etc. Remember, Papa not only speaks all languages but has the ability to translate all languages. So asking him to “translate” your words into words that someone else can understand is a really good petition.

Of course, if you do not have a love situation, you could ask that Papa open the gate and clear the path to any goal that you have in mind. You can ask for anything, but to be most effective, try to be sure that what you are asking is within the scope of Papa!

To be included in these rituals, please email your petition to papalegba@spellmaker.com. There is no charge at all to be included in these rituals and you do not need to purchase anything at all. If you do have or will be getting the Papa Alegba Knock-Knock™ Ritual Kit, or any of the other products, using them on the days we are doing the rituals will maximize their effectiveness for you! You certainly could just light some candles and use Papa’s oil and incense or take the Papa Alegba Clear Path™ Red and White bath. Anything you can do on those days, or any days in June, will be helpful in realizing your petitions. We have decided not to do a special ritual pack for this ritual because we already have specialized products for Papa that you can use during our ritual days.

We have also included, on Papa’s page, a small, free ritual that you can do if you don’t have the Papa Alegba Knock Knock™ Ritual pack and/or cannot afford to purchase it right now. Money, or the lack of it, hopefully will not prevent you from participating!

For the first time, also, there is a “donation button” on the Papa Legba page. Many folks have requested a way to donate for these free rituals that we do – just to help us cover costs, etc., if they weren’t planning on purchasing anything in particular at that time. It is neither required nor expected for anyone to donate anything, but for those of you asked to have a way to donate, the donate button is toward the bottom of the page at www.spellmaker.com/legba.htm. Thank you to those of you who asked for a way to donate! We appreciate it. šŸ™‚

Again, these rituals will be ongoing through June. The sooner you get your petition letter in to papalegba@spellmaker.com, the more times your letter will be included in the rituals! We really look forward to doing these rituals.

    Love to all,

    Mambo Samantha Corfield

  • Are you Depressed?

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Very often clients come to me and tell me that they are depressed. Of course we all go through days, maybe weeks, where we are depressed about something. Let me first say, if you feel you are clinically depressed or unable to cope, please, please seek professional help. Obviously, I am not that kind of doctor and if you feel hopeless and helpless, please seek help locally.

Okay, so besides that I think sometimes we forget the simple ways to combat depression. Now, of course, you could do a Milk of Damballahā„¢ White Bath or use other cleansing type products such as white candles, etc.. However, sometimes just the very simple act of lighting a white candle, doing some deep breathing, and allowing yourself to relax and spend some time just "being" can help greatly! Not all successful "helps" are complicated! šŸ™‚ I very often recommend to clients keeping a few white image candle kits around in their own gender just to use on occasions when they feel sad, depressed, low in energy, etc. It is a fairly simple way to boost yourself!

I also found an article that outlined 10 simple ways to fight depression. It's funny, most of it you will have already heard, I had! BUT, it was still just nice to see it in a simple list as a reminder that if we are depressed, sometimes just taking a few simple measures will get us "over the hump" of a bluesy day.

"10 Tips For Fighting Depression "

I’ve done a bit of research into fighting depression recently and I’ve put together ten brief tips for fighting depression, leaving medication out of the list (excepting vitamins), as it doesn’t work for everyone. Most of these tips are probably common sense but it’s sometimes hard to think rationally when you’re depressed, and thus easy to forget.

Get sufficient sleep. I’ve always burned the candle at both ends. It’s a flaw of being a type-A, driven, workaholic personality. Lack of sleep multiplies the effects of depression. If you can’t get a full 6-8 hours each night, try 15-30 minute catnaps through out the day. I’ve tried implementing Steve Pavlina’s attempt at polyphasic rhythm-based sleep, but I can’t quite pull it off yet. I have however been very successful in using Pzizz’s two free 15-minute energizer audio MP3 recordings for power naps several times a day. It’s unbelievable how much these help. I’ve also successfully been using binaural beats to positively affect alpha, beta, theta, etc., brainwaves. (More on that in the future.)

Reduce stress. Stress can be invisible and subconscious, and it can come from guilt about a variety of things, personal and professional. For example, as I write this article, I’m suffering from guilt for not working on client projects, which I’ve been unable to do for most of the day. That means I have to make up for this lack tomorrow, which in turn induces anxiety. It’s tough, stressful cycle. If you don’t keep stress under control, it can induce productivity-grinding panic and anxiety attacks. Naps, a walk around the neighbourhood, and exercise can help alleviate the effects immensely. Remember: you cannot learn effectively with stress weighing you down. Sometimes, practicing detachment from your worries will solve your stress.

Get sufficient exercise. It’s not just a matter of getting blood flowing, though that’s part of it. But getting outside and getting sunlight and fresh air is important because it rejuvenates you. If you work at home like I do, this is especially important. I find that despite being a hermit thinker type, physical activity makes me feel great during times of depression. Blood flow and adrenaline seem to stave off the worst effects. Though it’s sometimes hard to remember that exercise or keeping busy helps.

Meditate. Meditation can be an effective means to reducing stress and thus depression. It can also help you to become aware of what is causing your guilt, your stress, and often help you achieve some detachment from those ā€œproblemsā€ you cannot do anything about. In short, it helps you achieve perspective, to see where to focus your attention. I’ve been meditating on and off for about 20 years. (I’ve done over 10,000 hours of meditation, part of the requirement of becoming a Buddhist monk, though not all under a ā€œmasterā€, which disqualifies me.)

Add some colour to your wardrobe. Tough for me, an ex-goth who still wears mostly all-black, but all dark clothes all the time increases the effects of depression. Colour stimulates positive feelings. I find blood red or a hunter green shirt helps me. Some people prefer yellow, orange or peach, or prints or paisleys. You can also add colour to your life through art therapy.

Eat properly. You know eating properly applies all the time but it’s even more crucial for those suffering from depression. I find grains, nuts, and fruit help me, and staying away from fried foods and refined carbs. I have a friend, a gifted classical guitarist, who ends up in the hospital every three or four years because of the massive amount of fast food he eats nearly every single day, and without vegetables at that. (He’s had around three meltdowns in the decade or so I’ve known him, and hasn’t worked in that time.) Even a fresh submarine/ hoagy/ rocket with lots of free toppings (i.e., veggies) is better than fries, gravy, burgers and pizzas several times a week like he has. (I’m not knocking them, as I eat them, but not every day.) Seek out healthy snacks or make your own, eat nutritious foods and add colourful vegetables and leafy items.

Take your vitamins. Learn your E, B, Cs. And Zinc, Folic acid, iron supplements, etc. Poor diet robs us of many absolutely essential nutrients. If you are not going to change your diet, whatever your reason, at least replenish those nutrients.

Drink water. The proper amount of fluids helps keep your skin from getting dry in the winter time – the ā€œseasonā€ in seasonal depression. It also helps clear out some of the toxins in your body. And by the way, it’s NOT 8 glasses per day for everyone. The proper amount is based on your body weight, age, activity level, and other factors.

Add extra lighting. Research shows that adding some warm, bright lights helps fight the effects of depression. You don’t have to spend $150+ on special lamps; just increase the wattage in some of your light bulbs. Also, fluorescent lights are less bright than they appear. Try to replace them if possible.

Smile. It’s not a guaranteed nor permanent cure, but it does help sometimes, if you can maintain a smile for a few minutes. I watch The Comedy Network (Canada) sometimes, as laughing helps – at least temporarily, like chicken soup sort of helps a cold. Remembering to do so is key, so you may need to tape some visual reminders to your mirrors or computer, etc."
