  • Happy Earth Day from Mambo Samantha Corfield and Sheer Goddess

    Hello everyone!

Happy Earth Day! Since we all live here on this earth, we wish it love and happiness! 😉

So many of us are learning more and more about recycling and reusing. As some of you have probably noticed, we have made a great effort in the last year or so to reduce our packaging as much as possible. We have begun to re-use boxes for shipping (so if you receive your order in a reused box, that is why).

Another thing is that we are starting to use a lot of recycled newspaper for packing paper. Even though it may not look as pretty as fancy packing paper, we feel a lot better about using it. It helps us keep our costs down, too, which allows us to not have to raise prices and, in some cases, we have been able to lower prices!

Of course, it is a fine line between recycling and reusing, and still giving you a product that looks nice and is secure in its packaging! Since we do all of our business by shipping things, we do have to be sure that it can get where it is going in one piece, so we do have to use some materials to make certain of that! 🙂

Do you have a favorite recycling tip? We would love to hear it! Or is there some way you have thought of that we could improve our packaging and still be “earth friendly?” We would love to hear it!!!

    Love, light, and peace,

  • Novitiate Invitations Have Been Sent!

    Greetings, everyone!

As some of you already know, invitations to become a Novitiate in the Spellmaker Novitiate program have been sent out.

The Novitiate program is a program here at Spellmaker wherein we begin to teach those who are serious about eventually becoming an Initiated Priest or Priestess within our family line of New Orleans Voodoo.

I am little concerned that some of you may not have received your intended invitation due to email glitches and computer gremlins. If you feel that you should have received an invitation (especially if we have talked about it before) and you have NOT received it, please write to us at office@spellmaker.com and let us know so that we can check. There is a good chance that if you were expecting to receive it and did not that it is lost in the land of the who-know-where-the-heck-the-email-goes.

Also, because we thoroughly believe that people are led to us through many different ways, if you are reading this and didn’t know about the Novitiate program and are interested, you, too, can write to us and let us know so that we can consider you!

It might be important to know exactly what a Novitiate is and what is expected and what is to be gained. So briefly…

To become a Novitiate with our Family means that you are working towards becoming an initiated family member like Sister Candelaria and Sister Bridget.

The Novitiate program takes at least three years, perhaps more, as each individual progresses on their own. There is no charge for the Novitiate program, but each Novitiate is expected to do some sort of service to the house. It is not meant to be a burden on anyone to be a Novitiate, so service will vary from person to person to include their abilities, available time, etc.

Of course, it is completely confidential. There are rules and regulations and it can be a strict program at some points, however, we think that it is worth it to those who feel the calling to nuture and grow their own spiritual abilities and perhaps eventually help others.

So if you feel like you should have gotten an invitation and didn’t, please let us know. If you are just hearing about this and feel like perhaps it is something for you, please let us know that, too, so that we may consider you for inclusion! But you need to let us know as soon as possible as we are eager to get this year’s Novitiates started! 🙂

    Love, light, and peace,

    Mambo Samantha Corfield

  • Good Friday in New Mexico

Hello everyone! I know many of you have heard me speak of the church here in New Mexico, Santuario de Chimayo. This little church, built in the 1800’s, sits high in the New Mexico mountains and has been nicknamed “the Lourdes of America” due to the many documented healings that have taken place there.

There is a tradition here of the faithful walking up the mountain to the Santuario from as far as 100 miles away! This happens every Good Friday here in New Mexico with different families along the route of the pilgrimage opening their homes to the faithful who walk. There are also re-enactments of different religious events and lots of volunteers to help those who walk.

I found an article with pictures that I thought you all might enjoy:

    Please enjoy!

  • Hello everyone! Sister Bridget’s blog today is about the Pink Moon! I know a lot of you “old timers” use the Pink Bubble Meditation that I posted last year quite a bit. But I thought that perhaps some of the newer people don’t know about it and it seemed like a great day to repost it. I can’t think of a better time to do the Pink Bubble Meditation than during the Pink Moon! 🙂 Happy meditating!

    Post Reprint:

Hello everyone!  Have you attempted meditation?  Meditation has been around for centuries and is used for many different manifestations of life:  health, love, anger management, relaxation, etc.  There are literally thousands of ways to meditate and assist in the manifestation of your goals.

In spell work we are often trying to attain a particular goal:  It may be love, money, a job, etc.  Whatever our reason for doing the spell work, adding in some creative meditations can certainly be a way of assisting your situation.

Over the upcoming weeks, I would like to share with you some of my favorite meditation techniques. I hope you enjoy them!  The meditation technique below, the "Pink Bubble Meditation", is a wonderful meditation to use if you are working with our favorite love lwa, Erzulie Freda or working with pink candle magick or any other love magick.  🙂

    Love, Mambo Sam

    Pink Bubble Meditation Technique

This meditation is simple and wonderfully effective.
    Exercise:

    • Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and breathe deeply, slowly, and naturally. Gradually relax and feel this meditation taking you deeper and deeper.
    • Imagine something that you would like to manifest. Imagine that is already happened.
    • Picture it as clearly as possibly in your mind. Now in your mind’s eye surround your fantasy with a pink bubble; put your goal inside the bubble. Pink is the color associated with the heart, and if this color vibrations surrounds whatever you visualize, it bring to you only that which is in perfect affinity with your being.
    • The third step is to let go of your bubble and imagine it floating off into the universe, still containing your vision. This symbolizes that you are emotionally ‘letting go” of it.
    • Now it’s free to float around the universe, attracting and gathering energy for it’s manifestation.

  • The April Full Moon is in the Pink! April 9, 2009

The first full moon of Spring is upon us! Look for it in the
sky April 9 & 10, 2009! The April full moon is also known as the Pink Full
Moon, as it marks the appearance of the grass pink, or wild ground phlox—one of
the first spring flowers. Native Americans of the northern and eastern part of
the United States tracked the seasons by giving a unique name to each of the
full moons.  This name was for the entire month that the full moon
occurred in.  The name of the full moon and variations of its name was used
by the Algonquin Indian tribes from New England to Lake Superior. It is also
known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon. Coastal
tribes called this moon the Fish Moon, because it was this time of year that
shad began their upstream climg to their spawning grounds. Here is a short
video about how this “Pink Moon” got its name.

This moon is also known as the Seed Moon. The energies
around this moon are ones of fertility, growth and inner wisdom. We are
encouraged to be bold at this time; to take action on things we have been putting
off all Winter. Spring has arrived, as has its energy for new starts and new
    beginnings!

Tonight’s full moon shines near the star Spica, the
brightest light in the constellation Virgo. The first full moon to follow the
March equinox faithfully shines in front of Virgo, the harvest goddess, to
    signal the change of seasons.

The Christian celebration of Easter falls on the first
Sunday after the first full moon of the northern hemisphere spring. So
tonight’s Easter Moon heralds the coming of Easter Sunday.

    FULL MOON
    by Lee Emmett (Australia)

    in smoky-silk, milky-mist sea
    full moon beauty gazes around
    wearing lilac-veil she sails aloft
    worldly domain without sound

    dark arms of eucalyptus caress
    cool-spirited fairies of mid-night
    bathing in droplets on silver-sheen
    forest-leaves; forms magical sight

Celebrate this time to begin welcoming in Spring! Clean out
your birdhouses, refill those bird feeders, go shopping in your favorite seed
catalogs 😉 Light a green candle for Gran Bwa and ask for his blessings in the
coming time of sun and lush grass and thick forests. Now would be a wonderful
time to do a simple Lwa honoring  ritual   for Gran Bwa as
    well.

This is also a great time to air out your house with a lovely Marie Laveau Clean Sweep House Blessing kit. Spiritual spring cleaning at its best 😉

Spring is arriving and it is time to celebrate!

  • Using Your Love Doll with Other Products!!!

Hi everyone! Happy April Fools’ Day! LOL. Of course none of my clients are “fools” so this is not a day for you. 😉

As we continue talking about adjunct work, I wanted to cover the usage of your love doll (deluxe or regular) with other products.

The love doll is one of the most effective products that you can use for your love case. Just the love doll itself, even without using it in combination work, is a powerful tool for communicating directly with your HD (Heart’s Desire, what we call the person you are working on). The doll becomes a direct pipeline right to your HD’s Higher Self.

So of course, when you combine using the doll with other products, that ups the efficacy of BOTH of those products! 🙂 One of my favorite combinations of work is the love doll with the Cosmic Voodoo™ Healing Egg. In most cases, something needs to either be healed within the relationship you are trying to have or perhaps themselves. When you combine using the Healing Egg with your Love Doll, you are really doubling that healing power.

For instance, if the person you are doing your spell work on has a fear of commitment; that is something that we would consider needs healing. By setting up both your Cosmic Voodoo Egg ritual AND your love doll ritual at the same time, you are bringing the level of power WAY UP THERE!! 😉 Many things in a relationship that you might think would not necessarily be considered something that needs healing actually can respond to healing! What if your HD has a “wandering eye” towards others partners? You can actually work on that with “healing” their desire for others! (Now that kind of healing would definitely call for combination work!)

Is your HD someone you don’t seem to be able to depend on? You could use your Egg and Doll combination to work towards “healing” them of being undependable! So the trick is to look at what you might consider negative traits in your HD and consider those as maladies to be healed.

Another great way to use the love doll in combination is with various image candles! Using one image candle to represent you and one image candle to represent your HD, and using that in conjunction with your love doll is great! You could do this red, white, pink, or even green image candles just depending on what you are trying to accomplish! For example: Let’s say that you want to mend some heavily negative events that have happened between you and your HD. Setting up your love doll, then using a white image candle for you and a white image candle for your HD, getting everything going, and then petition that all that negativity be removed from BOTH of you and especially then from your HD (using the doll). This is especially useful if you feel like you have perhaps gotten mostly past the negativity but your HD is harboring more than you are. It will help you, but you will be putting more of the energy toward your HD since two of the three products will be aimed at your HD. 🙂

Now of course you have all now been introduced to our new sex magick products! Using the sex magick candles with the love doll is a great way to enhance the sexual energy work greatly. If your sex life is flagging or even non-existent with your HD, then using the doll with the sex nmagick will certainly boost things. Also, using this sexual energy in combination with the loving energy of the doll brings the relationship energy to a highly intimate level, right where you want it!

There are, of course, many other ways you could use the love doll in conjunction with our other products! 🙂 If you are unsure how to do this, please talk to your caseworker. If you have some other ideas of adjunct work, please leave a comment below! I would love to see your ideas, too!

  • Are you Depressed?

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Very often clients come to me and tell me that they are depressed. Of course we all go through days, maybe weeks, where we are depressed about something. Let me first say, if you feel you are clinically depressed or unable to cope, please, please seek professional help. Obviously, I am not that kind of doctor and if you feel hopeless and helpless, please seek help locally.

Okay, so besides that I think sometimes we forget the simple ways to combat depression. Now, of course, you could do a Milk of Damballah™ White Bath or use other cleansing type products such as white candles, etc.. However, sometimes just the very simple act of lighting a white candle, doing some deep breathing, and allowing yourself to relax and spend some time just "being" can help greatly! Not all successful "helps" are complicated! 🙂 I very often recommend to clients keeping a few white image candle kits around in their own gender just to use on occasions when they feel sad, depressed, low in energy, etc. It is a fairly simple way to boost yourself!

I also found an article that outlined 10 simple ways to fight depression. It's funny, most of it you will have already heard, I had! BUT, it was still just nice to see it in a simple list as a reminder that if we are depressed, sometimes just taking a few simple measures will get us "over the hump" of a bluesy day.

    —Article–

"10 Tips For Fighting Depression "

I’ve done a bit of research into fighting depression recently and I’ve put together ten brief tips for fighting depression, leaving medication out of the list (excepting vitamins), as it doesn’t work for everyone. Most of these tips are probably common sense but it’s sometimes hard to think rationally when you’re depressed, and thus easy to forget.

Get sufficient sleep. I’ve always burned the candle at both ends. It’s a flaw of being a type-A, driven, workaholic personality. Lack of sleep multiplies the effects of depression. If you can’t get a full 6-8 hours each night, try 15-30 minute catnaps through out the day. I’ve tried implementing Steve Pavlina’s attempt at polyphasic rhythm-based sleep, but I can’t quite pull it off yet. I have however been very successful in using Pzizz’s two free 15-minute energizer audio MP3 recordings for power naps several times a day. It’s unbelievable how much these help. I’ve also successfully been using binaural beats to positively affect alpha, beta, theta, etc., brainwaves. (More on that in the future.)

Reduce stress. Stress can be invisible and subconscious, and it can come from guilt about a variety of things, personal and professional. For example, as I write this article, I’m suffering from guilt for not working on client projects, which I’ve been unable to do for most of the day. That means I have to make up for this lack tomorrow, which in turn induces anxiety. It’s tough, stressful cycle. If you don’t keep stress under control, it can induce productivity-grinding panic and anxiety attacks. Naps, a walk around the neighbourhood, and exercise can help alleviate the effects immensely. Remember: you cannot learn effectively with stress weighing you down. Sometimes, practicing detachment from your worries will solve your stress.

Get sufficient exercise. It’s not just a matter of getting blood flowing, though that’s part of it. But getting outside and getting sunlight and fresh air is important because it rejuvenates you. If you work at home like I do, this is especially important. I find that despite being a hermit thinker type, physical activity makes me feel great during times of depression. Blood flow and adrenaline seem to stave off the worst effects. Though it’s sometimes hard to remember that exercise or keeping busy helps.

Meditate. Meditation can be an effective means to reducing stress and thus depression. It can also help you to become aware of what is causing your guilt, your stress, and often help you achieve some detachment from those “problems” you cannot do anything about. In short, it helps you achieve perspective, to see where to focus your attention. I’ve been meditating on and off for about 20 years. (I’ve done over 10,000 hours of meditation, part of the requirement of becoming a Buddhist monk, though not all under a “master”, which disqualifies me.)

Add some colour to your wardrobe. Tough for me, an ex-goth who still wears mostly all-black, but all dark clothes all the time increases the effects of depression. Colour stimulates positive feelings. I find blood red or a hunter green shirt helps me. Some people prefer yellow, orange or peach, or prints or paisleys. You can also add colour to your life through art therapy.

Eat properly. You know eating properly applies all the time but it’s even more crucial for those suffering from depression. I find grains, nuts, and fruit help me, and staying away from fried foods and refined carbs. I have a friend, a gifted classical guitarist, who ends up in the hospital every three or four years because of the massive amount of fast food he eats nearly every single day, and without vegetables at that. (He’s had around three meltdowns in the decade or so I’ve known him, and hasn’t worked in that time.) Even a fresh submarine/ hoagy/ rocket with lots of free toppings (i.e., veggies) is better than fries, gravy, burgers and pizzas several times a week like he has. (I’m not knocking them, as I eat them, but not every day.) Seek out healthy snacks or make your own, eat nutritious foods and add colourful vegetables and leafy items.

Take your vitamins. Learn your E, B, Cs. And Zinc, Folic acid, iron supplements, etc. Poor diet robs us of many absolutely essential nutrients. If you are not going to change your diet, whatever your reason, at least replenish those nutrients.

Drink water. The proper amount of fluids helps keep your skin from getting dry in the winter time – the “season” in seasonal depression. It also helps clear out some of the toxins in your body. And by the way, it’s NOT 8 glasses per day for everyone. The proper amount is based on your body weight, age, activity level, and other factors.

Add extra lighting. Research shows that adding some warm, bright lights helps fight the effects of depression. You don’t have to spend $150+ on special lamps; just increase the wattage in some of your light bulbs. Also, fluorescent lights are less bright than they appear. Try to replace them if possible.

Smile. It’s not a guaranteed nor permanent cure, but it does help sometimes, if you can maintain a smile for a few minutes. I watch The Comedy Network (Canada) sometimes, as laughing helps – at least temporarily, like chicken soup sort of helps a cold. Remembering to do so is key, so you may need to tape some visual reminders to your mirrors or computer, etc."
