  • Meditation and Focus Exercise Day 2: Who do I want to be?

Hello, welcome to Day Two of our exercise.

Instructions:  Take a few deep breaths and relax yourself. Stare at the picture below with the thought in mind:  "Who do I want to be?"   Spend about 3-5 minutes staring at the picture and asking yourself the same question, "Who do I want to be?" After about 3-5 minutes, write down some of your impressions.  When you are done writing, stare at the picture again and ask yourself the same question, "Who do I want to be?" After about 3-5 minutes, write down your impressions. Repeat the process one more time.  After your final writing down of your impressions (you should have written something down three separate times), close your notebook and do not go back and read your impressions. Get up and get away from your computer for a few minutes, drink some water, or take a short walk.  Come back tomorrow and do Day Three. πŸ™‚

  • Meditation and Focus Exercise Day 1: Who am I?

Hello, welcome to Day One of our exercise.

FOR ALL DAYS OF THE EXERCISES:  Don't self edit!  Just let your thoughts flow.  Don't worry about punctuation, spelling, etc.  You might find yourself doodling pictures instead of writing words.  There is no wrong "answer" to the questions that will be asked. Don't limit yourself in these exercises. This is about setting your mind and will free.  Don't over think the process – just let it flow. Most of us block our own success. Don't block your mind and spirit in these exercises. This is all about the freedom to succeed in all things.  Please feel free to share your experiences each day in the "comments" section below the post.

  • 9-Day Meditation and Goal Focus Exercise

    Hello everyone!
Here at Spellmaker we are always concerned with everyone's goals! What do you want? Why did you come to us? How can we help you get what you want?

Over the years I have noticed that the busier we all get, the less time we have to truly focus on our goals. So many times I will have people tell me that they will do "anything" to get the person they love, and yet balk at the idea of having to spend 45 minutes a day doing that "anything." πŸ˜‰ It isn't their fault entirely, though! We live in a world where we are forced to produce, get ahead, be on top of everything, etc. However, there is a problem with that: The very goals we are trying to achieve often elude us because we are so busy and so rushed to "get ahead" that we forget that those goals need our focus and attention! We end up frustrated, flustered, and feeling a lack of direction – and we see our goals slipping away from us.

Therefore, starting tomorrow, I will publish a nine-day set of meditative and focal exercises that I structured to help you achieve your dreams and goals. For some, it may raise more questions than it answers! However, if you will stick to these exercises for nine days in a row, you will begin to see the benefit! Remember, the answers to ALL that you want to know are inside of you. You are the expert on you! Sometimes you just need a little help to remember that.

No worries if you can't do the nine days in a row right now. This blog will have these exercises on it for as long as it exists, and I expect that to be a very long time. πŸ˜‰

What you will need for these exercises: About 15 minutes alone time (more if you can). A notebook that you can keep and refer to. You may want to do these exercises many times over your lifetime. If you can keep a notebook and refer back to it, you will see how you grow, change, and achieve! Something to write with. That's about it! Pretty simple.

I look forward to your progress.

    Love,
    Mambo Samantha Corfield

    WPwithinEveryatom

Think about this!  What is the message there?  Is love available to everyone?  Are we all taking the time to actually feel that love and the warmth of it?  How accepting of love are we really?  If we cannot experience Universal Love and love of one's self, can we truly experience romantic love?  Just asking!  Love to hear your opinions.  Remember everyone, you can read everyone's comments and make your own simply by clicking on the "comments" link below each individual post.  πŸ™‚

  • Gearing up for Papa Alegba Ritual #2!

    Hello everyone!

Sorry to not have been blogging this last week or so. We have been taking a lot of time to work with the Papa Alegba ritual and get everyone’s petitions heard! πŸ™‚ Hopefully it will be helping a lot of you out really soon.

We are, of course, now gearing up for the next big ritual day, which will be on St. Lazarus’s feast day, June 21, 2009. If you have not gotten your petitions in and still want to participate, you certainly can! Just visit the page at www.spellmaker.com/legba.htm and follow the links to send in your special letter to Papa Alegba.

Since this particular feast day has to do with honoring also St. Lazarus, it is a great time to ask for something to be “resurrected” – whether it a love affair, a job, peace of mind, anything that you have felt is dead and gone! Now is a really good time to ask for that thing to be infused with new life.

I would also encourage you to honor St. Lazarus himself at this time. Remember, these Catholic saints have been used for many years now to represent a particular lwa. However, of course, the Saint him or herself is still a viable entity prayed to by millions every day. Therefore, honoring the Saint at this time is certainy a great thing to do. πŸ™‚

St. Lazarus, as most of you know, was a man said to be resurrected and cured by Jesus Christ. Lazarus was a leper and said to have died of his disease but because of Jesus’s fondness for him and his sisters, he was resurrected and cured of his disease. Whether you believe the biblical tale or not is inconsequential. If you are going to honor Papa on this day because it is St. Lazarus’s feast day, it is always a good idea to honor dear St. Lazarus himself.

There are Catholic prayers to St. Lazarus that you can find on the internet and incorporate into your ritual. You may also want to print out on of the holy pictures you can find of him – he is almost always depicted with dogs which is why he is often used for representing Papa. πŸ˜‰

Can’t wait to do this ritual, too!

  • That Looks Like a Lot of Trouble!

    Happy Sunday, everyone!

Parran Matt and I had some guests for dinner a couple of weeks ago. He had run into an old friend that he had not seen in many years and it was a great reunion! Now this friend doesn’t care for spicy food (which most of you already know is my passion in the kitchen). What’s a poor cooking Mambo to do? πŸ˜‰

Well, easy enough, right? I decide that we will grill up some barbequed chicken and ribs, with some baby red potatos, and asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. Now, let me digress for a moment here: Who in the heck can afford asparagus right now, right? Well, as luck would have it, my darling mother-in-law Eileen, who many of you have met at our conventions, found wild asparagus growing near her property a few years ago. The property is public property owned by the Nature Conservancy here, but if it borders your property, you have water rights, etc., to it. SO, Eileen, bless her heart, transplanted the wild asparagus beds onto her property and they took off like wildfire. (This is the lady who “accidently” grew cantaloupes last year by throwing the seeds and rinds into her garden for mulch and off they took into a cantaloupe vine yielding big, beautiful cantaloupes. LOL.)

So, bless her heart, in addition to her usual victory garden that she grows every year, we have fresh-picked asparagus this time of year. Well, as far as I am concerned I never met a grilled asparagus I loved more than with fresh Hollandaise sauce on it.
    πŸ˜‰

Now Hollandaise sauce is best served fresh so I make it right before putting everything on the table to serve. As I was cooking it, our friend kept saying that it “looked like a lot of trouble.” I don’t think it is, for me it only takes a few minutes to make and is so worth it. The same with whipped cream, I always whip it fresh if we are having it. It just takes a couple of minutes and it is so much better, but I usually get the same response of “wow, that looks like a lot of trouble.”

It made me think of how many times people have told me the same thing about spell casting, especially after exclaiming that they would “do anything” to get Jack (or Jill) back into their life. However, when presented with recommendations of what they should do to make this happen, I often get, “that sounds like a lot of trouble.”

For those folks, sadly, I usually expect them to get a poor outcome from their spell work. Right away they are setting themselves up into a negative state of mind of how much trouble they are going through for their HD; how much work it is; how much time it takes, etc., etc., etc.

But spell work, like good Hollandaise sauce, IS worth the effort. So if you are thinking your spell work is too much trouble – stop putting that into your mind. Consider calling that trouble “effort” instead of trouble. Consider calling it “being proactive.” Because if you are thinking this is all too much trouble, you couldn’t be thinking in a more negative manner!

    Love, light, and peace,

    Mambo Samantha Corfield

    www.spellmaker.com

    Mambo Sam’s Hollandaise Sauce

    4 egg yolks

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter

    1/2 cup half and half

1/2 teaspoon hot Hungarian paprika (or just regular paprika;you can also use cayenne
    )
    Pinch of salt

Whisk the egg yolks and lemon juice together in a stainless steel bowl and until the mixture is thick and approximately doubles in volume. Place the bowl over a saucepan containing barely simmering water (or use a double boiler if you have one.) The simmering water should not touch the bottom of the bowl. Continue to whisk rapidly. Be careful not to let the eggs get too hot or they will scramble. Mix your cream and butter together gently and slowly drizzle in the mixture. and continue to whisk until the sauce is thickened and doubled in volume. Remove from heat, whisk in paprika and salt. Keep warm until ready to use. If you are making this ahead of time and it thickens up too much, you can whisk in warm water a tablespoon at a time until you get the right consistency – thick, but still pourable.

  • Happy May Day everyone!

Ah, May 1! This day has been celebrated in so many ways through so many cultures. The halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice,  May 1 has elicited many different rituals through the years.

For Wiccans, this is Beltane; many Catholics celebrate the life of the Vigin Mary in some way.  Yours truly was once the "May Queen" at her Catholic elementary school – St. Anthony of Padua on Canal Street in New Orleans.  Yes, I got to wear the beautiful white outfit and lead the procession into the church and lay the first roses at the foot of the statue of the Virgin Mary.  Pretty heady stuff for an 8-year-old girl.

Of course, nevermind the Catholics totally borrowed the holiday from the pagans who celebrated their first fertility rituals of the year on this date.  ;-)  Children conceived on this date are said to have special magickal powers.  Children conceived on Walpurgis (the night before May 1, Beltane Eve) are said to have the ability to communicate with the dead because Walpurgis is, traditionally, one of the days when the veil between the world of the living and the dead is considered most thin and penetrable.

May 1 is often celebrated with different types of floral offerings.  In some countries the ladies all wear flowers on this day – if your flower is worn on your right side, you are available; a flower on the left signifies that you are already taken.   This is also considered the day to meet a new lover or celebrate an old one.  ;-)

This day is often associated with new beginnings, planting a new seed, looking towards shedding off the past and looking towards the future with new, hopeful ideation.  Not too many of us get the chance to dance around the Maypole these days, but certainly you can do that in your heart and mind.  I hope you all have a beautiful May 1 and beyond!  Let's look towards new beginnings, new hope, and beautiful outcomes for us all.

  • Novitiate Invitations Have Been Sent!

    Greetings, everyone!

As some of you already know, invitations to become a Novitiate in the Spellmaker Novitiate program have been sent out.

The Novitiate program is a program here at Spellmaker wherein we begin to teach those who are serious about eventually becoming an Initiated Priest or Priestess within our family line of New Orleans Voodoo.

I am little concerned that some of you may not have received your intended invitation due to email glitches and computer gremlins. If you feel that you should have received an invitation (especially if we have talked about it before) and you have NOT received it, please write to us at office@spellmaker.com and let us know so that we can check. There is a good chance that if you were expecting to receive it and did not that it is lost in the land of the who-know-where-the-heck-the-email-goes.

Also, because we thoroughly believe that people are led to us through many different ways, if you are reading this and didn’t know about the Novitiate program and are interested, you, too, can write to us and let us know so that we can consider you!

It might be important to know exactly what a Novitiate is and what is expected and what is to be gained. So briefly…

To become a Novitiate with our Family means that you are working towards becoming an initiated family member like Sister Candelaria and Sister Bridget.

The Novitiate program takes at least three years, perhaps more, as each individual progresses on their own. There is no charge for the Novitiate program, but each Novitiate is expected to do some sort of service to the house. It is not meant to be a burden on anyone to be a Novitiate, so service will vary from person to person to include their abilities, available time, etc.

Of course, it is completely confidential. There are rules and regulations and it can be a strict program at some points, however, we think that it is worth it to those who feel the calling to nuture and grow their own spiritual abilities and perhaps eventually help others.

So if you feel like you should have gotten an invitation and didn’t, please let us know. If you are just hearing about this and feel like perhaps it is something for you, please let us know that, too, so that we may consider you for inclusion! But you need to let us know as soon as possible as we are eager to get this year’s Novitiates started! πŸ™‚

    Love, light, and peace,

  • Hello everyone! Sister Bridget’s blog today is about the Pink Moon! I know a lot of you “old timers” use the Pink Bubble Meditation that I posted last year quite a bit. But I thought that perhaps some of the newer people don’t know about it and it seemed like a great day to repost it. I can’t think of a better time to do the Pink Bubble Meditation than during the Pink Moon! πŸ™‚ Happy meditating!

    Post Reprint:

Hello everyone!  Have you attempted meditation?  Meditation has been around for centuries and is used for many different manifestations of life:  health, love, anger management, relaxation, etc.  There are literally thousands of ways to meditate and assist in the manifestation of your goals.

In spell work we are often trying to attain a particular goal:  It may be love, money, a job, etc.  Whatever our reason for doing the spell work, adding in some creative meditations can certainly be a way of assisting your situation.

Over the upcoming weeks, I would like to share with you some of my favorite meditation techniques. I hope you enjoy them!  The meditation technique below, the "Pink Bubble Meditation", is a wonderful meditation to use if you are working with our favorite love lwa, Erzulie Freda or working with pink candle magick or any other love magick.  πŸ™‚

    Love, Mambo Sam

    Pink Bubble Meditation Technique

This meditation is simple and wonderfully effective.
    Exercise:

    • Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and breathe deeply, slowly, and naturally. Gradually relax and feel this meditation taking you deeper and deeper.
    • Imagine something that you would like to manifest. Imagine that is already happened.
    • Picture it as clearly as possibly in your mind. Now in your mind’s eye surround your fantasy with a pink bubble; put your goal inside the bubble. Pink is the color associated with the heart, and if this color vibrations surrounds whatever you visualize, it bring to you only that which is in perfect affinity with your being.
    • The third step is to let go of your bubble and imagine it floating off into the universe, still containing your vision. This symbolizes that you are emotionally β€˜letting go” of it.
    • Now it’s free to float around the universe, attracting and gathering energy for it’s manifestation.

  • Our Niece, Need, and Petitioning!

Hello everyone and Happy Birthday, BCM, (you know who you are!),
Several years ago, before Matt and I got married, I met his niece for the first time. She was pretty young then, I think 5 years old. As luck would have it, she had just finished watching an infomercial for The Magic Bullet. I am sure most of you know what that is, but in case you don't, it is a small mixer/food processor type thingy – you know chops, whips, blends, all of that.

Anyway, she was enchanted with this machine and proceeded to tell me all about it, in great detail, and why I NEEDED it. She did not tell me why I should want it, or even how much fun it would be, or anything like that. She explained to me (she is very smart) why I needed it. In fact, she told me several times within the conversation, you need one. Everyone needs one. You need it for your kitchen, etc.

Well, I have a Magic Bullet, thanks in total to her, and use it all the time. LOL. By the time she finished convincing me, I thoroughly believed I needed it. I use it all the time and maybe I didn't actually need but I really enjoy it and am glad I have it.

I was telling this story of why I got the Magic Bullet to someone recently. As I was telling this person it occurred to me that this would be a great way to petition in some love spell cases! Convince them that they NEED you; sell all your good points and how wonderfully fun and beneficial they are. πŸ˜‰ Petitioning in such a way to tell a person why they need you in their life might, in some cases, be more effective than telling them why they want you in their life. It depends a lot on the kind of person that you are working on!

This might be especially true if the person you are working on is a practical person. The kind of petitioning that reminds them that they need you in their life, just as you need them, might be just the trick!

So next time you are petitioning with your spell kits or adjunct work, "magic bullet" those petitions and let's see what happens!

    Love, light, and peace,
    Mambo Sam
