There is healing in the laying on of hands; in the letting go of fear, in asking for help, in silence, celebration, prayer. There is healing in speaking the truth and in keeping still, in seeking sunlight and not shunning struggle. Laughter and the affirmation of wholeness hold their own healing. When the soul dances, when the day begins in delight, when love grows and cannot be contained, when life flows from moment to moment, healing happens in the space between thoughts, and the breath before the first sung note. Healing is a birthright and a grace. When we dare to be open to the unknown, when we extend ourselves in caring, when we welcome in the vast expanse of life, healing comes from the heart, and blossoms from the inside out.
Happy Friday!!! :-) I hope you are planning a wonderful weekend!
Our first magickal music musing was about Heart's "Magic Man." Thanks to those of you who posted some replies and thoughts about who/what the sound reminded you of magickally! Everyone's ideas were right on! There is, of course, no right or wrong answer – the right answer is the one that is right for you.
For me personally that song always reminds me of Papa Legba because to me he IS the magic man… for without him, no magic gets done! I also like the little implication of the trickster, but in a good way – like he mesmerizes you and you love it! ;-) However, certainly the thoughts of other male lwa easily come to mind – Ogoun, the Baron (also with his slick, sexy ways), etc. So good answers one and all!
Today's song for discussion is "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf! I had a lot of fun putting my thoughts together on this one regarding what and whom this song brought to mind for me! I will share them after I hear from all of you! Can't wait to hear what lwa, product, or spell this brings to your mind! 🙂
Lyrics:
I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine On a cloud of sound I drift in the night Any place it goes is right Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here
Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride You don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away
Last night I held Aladdin's lamp And so I wished that I could stay Before the thing could answer me Someone came and took the lamp away I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found
Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride Well, you don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away
Don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride You don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away

Belief that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day is believed to be the most widespread superstition in the US. According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in North Carolina, about 17 million people fear Friday the 13th.
This year, there are THREE of them! Each, exactly 13 weeks apart.
Where did all of this fear stem from? It can be hard to tell. There is the basic idea that Friday is considered an unlucky day, and 13 is considered an unlucky number, put the two together, and you have a very unlucky day.
Folklorists think the dread goes back at least a few centuries, and may well trace its roots all the way to Biblical times, when the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus and caused his Crucifixion, which was held on a Friday. Whatever the origin, by the late Middle Ages both Friday and the number 13 were considered bearers of misfortune. That potent combo, more than any specific association with the date, is what has deemed Friday the 13th unlucky.
One study in the UK showed that the actual amount of cars on the road was lower than normal, yet the accident rate was much higher than normal. Their conclusion – "Friday 13th is unlucky for some. The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. Staying at home is recommended."
Some folks believe this superstition to be hype and urban legend. Some folks choose to stay home and read a good book. However you choose to spend your Fridays the 13th this year, I wish you luck!
"We worry far too much about the minutiae of our struggles when we should be …looking for the pockets of hope and peace that are all around us, even during dark times." ~~~George Anderson
