Morning Poem by Mary Oliver.
Morning PoemEvery morningthe worldis created.Under the orangesticks of the sunthe heapedashes of the nightturn into leaves againand fasten themselves to the high branches —and the ponds appearlike black clothon which are painted islandsof summer lilies. If it is your natureto be happyyou will swim away along the soft trailsfor hours, your imaginationalighting everywhere. And if your spiritcarries within itthe thornthat is heavier than lead —if it's all you can doto keep on trudging —there is stillsomewhere deep within youa beast shouting that the earthis exactly what it wanted —each pond with its blazing liliesis a prayer heard and answeredlavishly, every morning, whether or notyou have ever dared to be happy, whether or notyou have ever dared to pray.from Dream Work (1986) by Mary OliverWishing everyone a wonderful Sunday πLoveSister Bridget -

Baggage…..
βThe things you want are always possible; it is just that
the way to get them is not always apparent. The only real obstacle in your path
to a fulfilling life is you, and that can be a considerable obstacle because
you carry the baggage of insecurities and past experience.β~~ Les Brown
Baggage. We hear
that term tossed around alot, dont we? …. but what is it? How do we get it?
Most importantly, how do we get rid of it? As we go through our daily
lives, stuff happens. Sometimes its big, bad stuff. Hopefully, that does not
happen very often. But it does, and it leaves it mark on us. Or it can leave
its mark on a loved one. How this *stuff* effects us might not be readily
apparent right away, but with time we may see some behavior pattern or reaction
or even overreaction to something that might raise an eyebrow. Sometimes, we
might feel like the picture above, dragging our past along into our future.
That slows us down and can keep us from achieving our goals. Not all
baggage is relationship based, by any means. But many of us here are working on
relationship issues, and it seems to be a common topic.Almost everyone today who has
experienced a failed relationship is carrying around some degree of emotional
baggage. The problem with these left over feelings is that they are usually
negative in nature, causing fears and
doubts that carry over into future relationships. This can very well sabotage
relationships that would otherwise have long term potential. The tricky thing
about emotional baggage is that most of us do not realize that we are carrying
it even after it has presented itself time and time again within our romantic
relationships. It is essential to learn how to recognize our own emotional
baggage in order to enjoy healthy and happy relationships in the future.Emotional baggage occurs when we experience a hurt within a
relationship and that hurt is not resolved or dealt with. We then internalize
those negative feelings and develop fears that we may or may not be aware of.
When we then go onto the next relationship, these same fears and negative
emotions trigger negative or irrational thoughts and behaviors within us. These
behaviors then have a negative impact on the new relationship. Instead of
protecting you from having the original hurtful experience repeat itself, these
behaviors can actually cause that experience to recur time and time again. The
fears and hurt feelings only then grow and now become justified within your own
mind as correct. This creates a cycle that you then feel unable to escape from
in your romantic life. How can we stop the cycle? Lots of waysβ¦.there are traditional
ways, like therapy, self examination, journaling, talking to a close
friend or relative. Really becoming aware of recurrent thoughts, feelings and
actions can really help. But, since you are here reading the blog of a Voodoo
Sister, I am going to assume that some magickal advice is being sought as well
πThe Lady Samantha Hex Removal Kit is the first and most powerful option
we have. This kit is an extremely powerful spiritual cleansing, and while you
may not have been hexed, this kit is also very appropriate for cleansing away
what holds us back emotionally. The Milk of Damballah White Bath kit is another option. An excellent
spiritual and emotional cleansing bath.White image candles, white seven knob candles, a Cosmic Voodoo Healing
Egg for yourself are also very good choices. And would work wonderfully
as a follow up to the Hex Removal Kit or the White Bath, to allow you to
continue to slowly and gently release issues one layer at a time.Whatever method you choose, traditional or magickal (or best yet a
combination of both) addressing baggage and healing from it will definitely be
worth the effort put forth π Remember, the most powerful healing we can do is for ourselves. In Service,

The Buddha’s Last Instruction.
Something about this poem hit home with me, and I hope there is something in this for you as well.

The Buddha's Last Instruction by Mary Oliver"Make
of yourself a light"said the Buddha,
before he died.
I think of this every morning
as the east begins
to tear off its many clouds
of darkness, to send up the first
signal-a white fan
streaked with pink and violet,
even green.
An old man, he lay down
between two sala trees,
and he might have said anything,
knowing it was his final hour.
The light burns upward,
it thickens and settles over the fields.
Around him, the villagers gathered
and stretched forward to listen.
Even before the sun itself
hangs, disattached, in the blue air,
I am touched everywhere
by its ocean of yellow waves.
No doubt he thought of everything
that had happened in his difficult life.
And then I feel the sun itself
as it blazes over the hills,
like a million flowers on fire-
clearly I'm not needed,
yet I feel myself turning
into something of inexplicable value.
Slowly, beneath the branches,
he raised his head.
He looked into the faces of that frightened crowd. -
Happy New Decade! 2010!
Happy New Year!
Wishing each and every one of you the happiest of New Years! Below is a poem that MaMere sent me, and it is so splendid (of course!) that I really wanted to pass it along to you.

A
Wonderful Resolution for the New Year!

What amazing gifts the new year
brings! An entire
year's worth of wonderful
opportunities, given to us
one sunrise at a time. Many
of the moments ahead will
be marvelously disguised as
ordinary days, but each one
of us has the chance to make
something extraordinary out of them.

Each new day is a blank page
in the diary of your life.
The secret of success is in
turning that diary into the
best story you possibly can.
Have pages on understanding
and tales of overcoming hardships.
Fill your story with
enthusiasm, adventure, learning,
and laughter. And make
each chapter reflect time
doing these things:

Follow your dreams. Work hard.
Be kind. Do what you
can to make the door open on
a day that is filled with
inspiration in some special
way. Remember: Goodness
will be rewarded. Smiles will
pay you back.
Have fun. Find strength. Be
truthful. Have faith.
Don't focus on anything you
lack.

Realize that people are the
treasures in life, and
happiness is the real wealth.
Have a diary that describes
how you're doing your best,
and…
the rest will take care of itself.

What Happens Tomorrow?
…..this is such a common question I hear from clients. It is so easy in the process of magick to get caught up in the minutia of day to day events, and lose our sight of the long term goal.
"S/he un-friended me on FB"
"S/he has a new friend on FB"
"S/he saw me online but did not chat with me"
"S/he drove past me but did not wave"
etc etc etc
the list could go on, but you get the idea (PS these are REALLY very common things I hear from folks, I am in no way singleling anyone out at all – please dont think that). While in the moment, and with the emotional state we can be in with casting and processing (Yup – the spell CASTER does some processing as well) I can see how these events listed above, and others, can make one thing the world is falling apart…..but if we just take a beat, and a few deep breaths, and set our sights on the long term goal again, things will resume there proper perspective – I promise! Waiting is hard – I often think it is the hardest part of things – but it is also the extremely important! The calmer and more centered and more positive you can stay in the waiting peroid, the better shape you will be in physically, emotionally, and spiritually when your results begin to manifest π That is NOT to be underrated. You cant give from an empty cup, and there arent any awards for handwringing, either. Make the best of the waiting period, keep your eye on the GOAL LINE, not on the ant on the blade of grass at your feet right now, and you will get to the finish line a healthier, fuller YOU.
Hmmmm – not sure where that rant came from, but I feel better now π
Anyway, here is a song I found (its a goodie) to help you keep your eye on the goal, and let go of the stress of today.
What Happens Tomorrow by Duran Duran
Child, don't you worry
It's enough you're growing up in such a hurry
Brings you down the news they sell you
To put in your mind that all mankind is a failureBut nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show how frightened we are
If you let me I'll protect you however I can
You've got to believe
it'll be alright in the endFighting, because we're so close
There are times we punish those who we need the most
No, we can't wait for a saviour
Only got ourselves to blame for this behaviourAnd nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show how frightened we are
It would seem lonely, if you were the only star in the nightYou've got to believe
it'll be alright in the endYou've got to believe
it'll be alright again
time is a river
a silent icy river
pulls us all
running deep
deep and fast enough to get lost down in the flow
thrashing around me
tiny lives mean everythingAnd nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
So don't let go, now we've come this far
Hope I have peace
Understand me
you're never aloneWe've got to believe
it'll be alright in the endnobody knows
You've got to believe
it'll be alright my friend
So don't let goUnless we believe
it'll be alright againNobody knows
~~end song~~
