Greetings everyone! I thought it might be fun to do a little project over the next several days to look at some popular music where lyrics refer to magick, witchcraft, etc., in some way.
Obviously, there are a lot of songs that refer to magickal happenings in different ways. However, I would like for us to discuss how we feel the songs that I will post here over the next couple of weeks, remind us of certain lwa (our voodoo spirits). Tell us what lwa the song reminds you of and why! It is okay if the song reminds you of more than one lwa, or even about a particular spell kit or product that you have used! Let's hear it what it is/was! 🙂
I am excited to see what you all think!
We will start with an old favorite: Heart's ever classic "Magic Man"
Here are the lyrics:
Cold late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
Never seen eyes so blue
I could not run away
It seemed we'd seen each other in a dream
It seemed like he knew me
He looked right through me
"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet
Let's get high awhile
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try try try to understand
I'm a magic man."
Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
Never think of never
Let this spell last forever
Summer over passed to fall
Tried to realized it all
Mama says she's a worried
Growing up in a hurry
"Come on home, girl" mama cried on the phone
"Too soon to lose my baby yet my girl should be at home!"
"But try to understand, try to understand
Try try try to understand
He's a magic man, mama
He's a magic man"
"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"I cast my spell of love on you a woman from a child!
But try to understand, try to understand
I'm a magic man!"
So what lwa came to mind for you? Or was it more than one lwa? 😉
Love to all,

With our Spellmaker Family's Annual Sobo Prosperity Ritual approaching, naturally our favorite little Sobo song pops in our heads 🙂 What other songs might we play during this ritual? Remember, Sobo is considered one of the lwa of the sky and is said to control lightning, thunder, and rain. Bade is considered to control the wind. Together, they have control of the elements of nature. Due to their elemental powers, they are often called upon to help us feel secure! Think of terms such as "raining money," "pennies from heaven," etc.
Here are a few to start us off…..
Money for Nothing- Dire Straights
Pay Me My Money Down- Springsteen
Then, one of my all time favorites, the Money Song by Monty Python 🙂
Do you have a favorite song about money? Post yours here and you may win a prize!

The Money Song by Monty Python
I've got ninety thousand pounds in my pyjamas.
I've got forty thousand French francs in my fridge.
I've got lots of lovely lire.
Now the Deutschmark's getting dearer,
And my dollar bills would buy the Brooklyn Bridge.
There is nothing quite as wonderful as money.
There is nothing quite as beautiful as cash.
Some people say it's folly,
But I'd rather have the lolly.
With money you can make a splash.
There is nothing like a newly minted pound.
Money, money, money, money.
Everyone must hanker
For the butchness of a banker.
It's accountancy that makes the world go 'round.
You can keep your Marxist ways,
For it's only just a phase,
For it's money, money, money makes the world go 'round.
…Money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, moneeeeey!
Hello~
Seeing how we are in the middle of Papa Legba month, thought it would be nice to share some songs with each other that we use when working with dear Papa. Please feel free to post a reply and let us know what song(s) you find that Papa really likes. You never know, there could be a prize again this time….
I'll start, tho its one we all know about. And kudos to Khouzhan Athena and her lovely video!

Papa Legba lyrics
(Talking Heads Version)
…..this is such a common question I hear from clients. It is so easy in the process of magick to get caught up in the minutia of day to day events, and lose our sight of the long term goal.
"S/he un-friended me on FB"
"S/he has a new friend on FB"
"S/he saw me online but did not chat with me"
"S/he drove past me but did not wave"
etc etc etc
the list could go on, but you get the idea (PS these are REALLY very common things I hear from folks, I am in no way singleling anyone out at all – please dont think that). While in the moment, and with the emotional state we can be in with casting and processing (Yup – the spell CASTER does some processing as well) I can see how these events listed above, and others, can make one thing the world is falling apart…..but if we just take a beat, and a few deep breaths, and set our sights on the long term goal again, things will resume there proper perspective – I promise! Waiting is hard – I often think it is the hardest part of things – but it is also the extremely important! The calmer and more centered and more positive you can stay in the waiting peroid, the better shape you will be in physically, emotionally, and spiritually when your results begin to manifest 😉 That is NOT to be underrated. You cant give from an empty cup, and there arent any awards for handwringing, either. Make the best of the waiting period, keep your eye on the GOAL LINE, not on the ant on the blade of grass at your feet right now, and you will get to the finish line a healthier, fuller YOU.
Hmmmm – not sure where that rant came from, but I feel better now 😉
Anyway, here is a song I found (its a goodie) to help you keep your eye on the goal, and let go of the stress of today.
What Happens Tomorrow by Duran Duran
Child, don't you worry
It's enough you're growing up in such a hurry
Brings you down the news they sell you
To put in your mind that all mankind is a failure
But nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show how frightened we are
If you let me I'll protect you however I can
You've got to believe
it'll be alright in the end
Fighting, because we're so close
There are times we punish those who we need the most
No, we can't wait for a saviour
Only got ourselves to blame for this behaviour
And nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show how frightened we are
It would seem lonely, if you were the only star in the night
You've got to believe
it'll be alright in the end
You've got to believe
it'll be alright again
time is a river
a silent icy river
pulls us all
running deep
deep and fast enough to get lost down in the flow
thrashing around me
tiny lives mean everything
And nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow
So don't let go, now we've come this far
Hope I have peace
Understand me
you're never alone
We've got to believe
it'll be alright in the end
nobody knows
You've got to believe
it'll be alright my friend
So don't let go
Unless we believe
it'll be alright again
Nobody knows
